Hi there. I have been lurking this site for a few weeks. I have noticed that there are many here that really know their stuff. I must say that I am impressed!

I would like some advice.

A little background first:

I am a 40 something year old woman. I have lost almost 200 lbs in the past 2.5 years. I have actually stayed at the same weight for the past year. (being a perpetually yo-yo er most of my life, that is a great accomplishment for me.) I lost my weight by low carbing. I began exercising a year ago. Before I ask my question, please note that I'm not one that is looking for a quick fix, an easy loss, or a magic pill. Ok, here goes:

Do you have any suggestions on how I could lose the last 20 lbs.? I am considering trying a thermogenic stacker like Hydroxycut. The reason for thing specifically about Hydroxycut, is it has a low dosage of ephedra per capsule. I have never taken anything like this before, and wanted to be safe.....BUT, also effective. Before you tell me to add more cardio, I have to tell you that I am doing what I can. I guess being fat hindered my physical fitness! I'm coming along, though, at my own pace. At first I could only do the elliptical for 2 minutes. (stop laughing :) I'm now up to 20 minutes and then I do the strength machines, then another 20 minutes. Maybe today can do 21 or 22 minutes? I try to add what I can. I'm afraid that trying to lose this last 20 pounds I have slowed my metabolism drastically. I know that is a bad thing, I just really want to lose this last 20. Any advice you could give me would be so greatly appreciated. THANKS in advance!

A couple of questions before i answer. DO you count calories? If yes what is your daily carb calories or grams? How many days do you do cardio? What does you diet consist of? Quick breakdown. Once these are answered i will be able to give you a knowledgable response.

Thanks. here is the info....

I do the same thing at the gym 4 days in a row. Cardio, strength machines, cardio, and then a few more sets of the upper arm machines. (flabby old arms!)
During my weightloss, I did not count calories or watch fat. It's been the past 6 months or so that I have restricted calories, and watched the fat. I know that someone is going to yell at me when I tell you this, but I have been watching calories severely lately. 1000 - 1500. I eat lots of fish and lean meats. I use mayo and cream in my coffee. I eat fresh green veggies, and salads with eaither blue cheese dressing or mayo. I have 1 -2 diet cokes, and 100 oz. of H2O a day. Other than in the diet coke, I don't use any other sweetener. OK, here is another confession....OH, I know you are going to yell at me....I have coffee for breakfast and wait as long as I can before I eat. (I know that's bad, but eating makes me hungry. It sets me off. I'm so afraid to go out of control again.) When I do finally eat, it is usually tuna with mayo, or lean roast beef or turkey with mayo. For dinner I eat normal. A meat or fish, a salad, and as much green veggies as I want, usually brocolli or brussel sprouts. Later, if I get hungry, I will have tuna w/mayo w cheese.
Thanks so very much for taking the time to help me out. Oh, I weigh 130. Trying to get to 110. THANKS!

130 is great!! Congrats!! Now i'm going to lay down the shit!! j/k

#1 Cut down on you mayo!!! This is a must unless it's a no fat mayo.
#2 Do you know why eating makes you more hungry? Because your metabolism is working at a faster rate the more often you eat therefore you are burning off the food you eat more quickly and your body is asking for more. This does not necessarily mean you will gain weight.
#3 Split your 1500 calories into smaller portions into 5-6 meall a day. Might be difficult but instead of having 1 full can of tuna and 2 slices whole wheat toast have 1/2 can of tuna and 1 whole wheat toast every 2.5 hours. This will speed your metabolism up and keep your calories the same.
#4 eat breakfast (very important) first meal of the day especially because it gets burnt off so quickly. Start eating as soon as you get up. If you watch your calories and eat lean you will not gain weight. Both your diet and cardio will keep you from gaining.
#5 try an ECA stack or fat burner like Xenadrine taken twice daily. This will deliever quick results because it aims at getting rid of some of your water you are retaining. You could lose 10 pounds easily from it in 1 month.

That's it for now...if i have any other suggestions i'll repost it. Any other people with suggestions????

Have a good one!

Thanks to both of you!

Thank you for responding. I was half afraid that I was setting myself up for being attacked. I know that I am doing some things wrong, but I needed some advice on how to change. I will definitely do everything that you have suggested. ( will miss cheese and mayo....but I can and will do it!) I'll let you know, say in a month, how it's going...sooner if I have any new questions. Thanks, again!
:)

First off, congrats on the weight loss! Now as far as an ECA stack goes, i know many people have success on those, but for someone like me, my body doesn't react well to ephedra based products...i use Adipokinetix and it has done wonders. It has Yohimbe in it which targets lower bodyfat in women. Also like someone else has mentioned...eat at least 6 small meals a day every 2-3 hours. It will help give your metabolism a boost. And lift weights...heavy weights. Build muscle, the muscle will help with your metabolism also. Cardio and weights can only do so much, it's the diet that is the most important. Cut out the mayo and try to cut out the soda too...Drink water and lots of it. I never drank water, but now i drink a ton and notice it helps with keeping my "puffiness" down.

Hope all that helps!:D

Oh yeah, and if you haven't already...visit the women's board. They are all sooooooo helpful over there and have wonderful advice.

Adipo also contains norephedrine which has a greater capactiy for suppressing appetite than ephedrine...although both are constituents of ephedra...
