Iced Earth

how many of you guys have even heard of them? They are easily the most underrated band of their type in my opinion. Anyone into metal really needs to checkout “Alive in Athens” it is fucking amazing.

Been a fan for years. Always loved Barlow's vocals. I won't purchase anything from them if he is not with them anymore.

I don't think they're underrated, really. They have always been quite popular. Perhaps not with the mainstream in the U.S., but in the underground and metal scenes they have always been a big name.

They don't hold a candle to Manowar though :D

bull shit! Manowar is pretty cool but I have yet to hear anything they have done that compares to the best iced earth:D

If I recall, the new album comes out in January and they were releasing a single/sampler this month.

IMO the CD Alive in Athens is their best so far. I like a lot of their other stuff but none as much as that.

Era as in album or album span... live albums almost always cover a bands entire career with emphasis on popular and recent/current material.
I'm partial to Burnt Offerings/Dark Saga era. BTW, if you have the original cover to thier first album, I know several people looking for it. Or ebay it for good money.
You're a fan of Demons and Wizards I'm assuming? Do they have any new material coming out? Their first (only?) album was godly. They only had a fill-in studio drummer, but he fit in well. I wish they took that project further.
And am I the only one who thinks the vocals are way to low in the mix on the Horror Show album? Maybe it's just me. My studio speakers aren't working anymore, so I have to resort to listening to music on a standard commercial stereo. Uuug.

I love Iced Earth. I just started getting into them, so I don't know much about them. My favorite song is "The Ghost standing next to you" or something like that.

Manowar kicks ass too, lol.

I knew what you meant I just think that Alive in Athens is a better example of what they are capable of than any studio album.
