Ia salt off limits while dieting?

Pardon my ignorance. I understand that sodium causes water retention and I can see how that would be a problem on stage or at the beach. But does it interfere with the body's ability to lose fat? I am not lean enough yet that I need to care about the extra water weight and salt seems to make the dieting a lot easier.

As far as affecting fat loss, not that I'm aware of.
It all depends on how dry and striated you want to look, if it's just for going to the beach then I don't see a problem w/ a minimal amount.
I love salty things, that's my weakness.

No it does not affect fat metabolism. It might seem like it though bc it causes you to hold more water and give you a bloat appearance.

salt increases blood pressure which increases, if anything the rate at which your body transfers and disposes of fat

Your going to have to post a study to back up that statement!

I don't salt my food, but I don't pay attention to sodium content. Hell, retaining water adds some joint leverage, so unless I'm competing I don't give a shit.

But only if you're predisposed to high BP and eat excessive amounts of salt.

Salt just retains water which smooths you out. Not a problem. Some sweating, a few herbal diuretics and you're fine.
