IME, momz without the baby daddy in the house tend to be soft on discipline. My mom disciplined me but she always had the fall back of,"Wait until your father gets home."

My mom would make me pick out the switch but dad was on a whole different level. Not that I was beaten, I probably had "the switch" about six times growing up, but dad was an oh shit fear factor. The threat I felt of disappointing them was probably the best discipline tool the had.

my dad took the belt out on numerous occasions and snapped it or draped it around his neck just as a warning. and thats all he ever had to do. i dont think he ever actually hit us with it lol

Punishment? That was a weekly chore for me. The house was heated via old school renewable energy, wood furnace.

Yeah.........but my dad had a gas powered log splitter........he just made me chop it with an ax to be a dick........did help build some shoulders tho.....lol
