I will find it extremely suspicious if there is another terrorist attack

The warning is just insurance. When something does happen they will say "see we told you to be careful." They have to do this because of the heat over 9-11. If they say nothing people jump on them, when something happens and if they did not say something like they are doing now people say it's fishy. It's a no win situation.

During this time of controversy over the Iraq situation...as many of us know, other wars that were not popular were started using some sort of attack on our military or civilian installations... according to our buddies Ridge and Ashcroft, this is the most serious stage of alert we've had... aside from the horror of another actual attack, I will be extremely disturbed if there is one, and then an angry population wanting something to lash out against and a sympathetic UN agrees to the Iraqi invasion...I truly hope this does not happen..but we shall see I guess.

And what if no attack happens? You will still be suspicious. You are just pretending to be open minded when your opinions are already set in stone. The fact that all the muslims aka terrorists will be pissed by an Iraq war and would see it as a reason to commit an act of terrorism seems less likely to you then our own government killing its citizens. Someone who thinks like that there is no point in reasoning with.

The thought of this -- although very disturbing -- is not that far of a reach IMO. I have no doubt that it's happened before. I try not to think that such things are possible because it makes me ill but in my heart of hearts, I know they are. Considering the resistance we're seeing around the world right now, an attack on US soil would appear to some to give the US justification to attack Iraq.

An attack being allowed to occur is not what I'm afraid of, it's an attack on us perpetrated by our own government.

I believe there's not much of a difference bro.

One thing is for sure, a lot of innocent people are going to be injured and die.

I believe this is a critical and pivotal time in the history and fate of our world. All things considered, nothing that has ever come even close to this. The real unfortunate part of it all to me is that I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. I mean how could any of this result in a good ending? I just don't see it.

That is not entirely correct Morticia... at this point if an attack did happen I would be extremely suspicous at the timing, largely becaue history has shown us that other attacks on our nation were allowed to occur in order to sway the public opinion...

I'm actually a little unsure of my position on the Bush adminstration... (though I know for sure I dislike ashcroft)... I am currently reading "Bush at War" by Bob Woodward, which is a good read though it does read more like a press campaign for Bush's goodness...but who knows...perhaps that is a realistic potrayal of the administration...it's hard to say what reality really is...I do like Condoleeza Rice from what I've seen though...respect Rumsfeld's intelligence and articulation skills...like Colin Powell too from what I've seen.

I do believe that Saddamn needs to go, hopefully a better leader is installed... but now? And without the support of the world? I'm not so sure about that...I find it hard to believe that if Saddam is actively trying to produce all these WMDs that our massive intelligence facilities still have not found conclusive proof of such...but who knows

But I also do not trust the motivations of our government .... I find with the track record, it is foolish to do so automatically... where are you on the sticky thread about ashcroft's new DS bill?

Surely as a conservative you value your civil liberties more than anything? Why have we seen the one of the largest revocations of civil liberties under the Bush admin in the history of the United States?

And without the support of the world?

The world is mostly made up of third world poverty ridden countries. Many are jealous of America's success and would like to see America fail. There is no denying that they do not look out for our interests. Therefore we must do things ourselves when we want. The "world" does not decide American foreign policy.

Frackal,

The senior US Government official complicity theory in the sept 11th attacks, would predict just an event you described.

please explain more on the sr us gov official complicity theory-- who it comes from and what is the stance and reasoning. I've heard a lot of conspiracy theoris and the "official theory" but I am not entirely convinced that Bin Laden was behind 9-11
