I wanna punch out THIS teacher...

I love the school's response to it - what amounts to more "educational videos". Jeezus - they (the adults) should all be slapped upside the head for not just taking personal responsibility. God, we are going to politically correct ourselves into obscurity.

If I have kids I think I may home school them.

If I were a parent in that school district I would make it my personal mission to have that teacher fired. LMAO @ teacher claiming science isn't scientific...

I would switch my kid out of that school PRONTO. Obviously, they are a bunch of idiots. You have a teacher there saying idiotic things about evolution and science and who can't understand the concept of seperation of church and state, and their response is to just ban any kids from recording the nonsense their "teachers" are spewing. WAY TO GO!

I'm an atheist and normally I don't give a shit what anybody believe in, but I absolutely hate religious people like this.

yeah. . .if that kind of shit is allowed to go on in schools, who knows what could happen?? maybe a spiritied debate between the obvious fundamentalist christian teacher and the students who probably come from all walks of life. . .next thing you know, they'd be "learning" stuff about each other, which in turn would lead to a greater understanding of their friends and neighbors, which could ultimately lead to a greater level of domestic peace and harmony. . .christ!! sounds like something the goddamn limp-wristed, flower-sniffing, tree-hugging democrats would dream up!!!

i'm just sayin'. . .

"a public school teacher was recorded telling students they belonged in hell if they did not accept Jesus as their savior"

Thats not "learning stuff from each other".

Funny how you never hear about atheists going to churches(or anywhere for that matter) and telling religious people how ridiculous they are for believing in religion.

There were dinosaurs aboard Noah's ark?

Interesting...

:cow:

The other ones I have heard are

  • The dinosaur bones were put there to confuse the issue by Lucifer
  • The fossils are demon bones left over in the war between heaven and hell.

Actually, I see it all the time here.

whatever. . .the point is, free exchange of thoughts and ideas and theories is one of the principles on which our country was founded. . .we're all too damn sensitive. . .we're turning into a nation of pussies where people are discouraged from thinking for themselves. . .don't get me wrong, if my six year olds came home from school and told me that their teacher said they were going to hell, i'd be the first one in line to kick someone's ass. . .but after a certain age. . .what's the harm of hearing a different point of view??

Because they go to school to learn about proven scientific facts not a "story".

Free exchange between 2 equal adults is one thing....an authoritative figure(teacher) scolding a child is another.

dont get me wrong, if they want to say the national anthem and include god, fine, couldnt care less, but no one has the right to "force" someone to include the god part if they dont want to say it.

I've know tons of atheists and I've never seen one even attempt to persuade of talk badly about religious people.

its always the other way around.

Atheists simply don't give a shit what you believe, as long as you don't try to force it on them.

and yes Christians are fucking obnoxious about trying to "convert" you.

you don't see atheists knocking on your door and trying to convince you of shit.

. . .he says. . .as he walks around with a pocket full of "in god we trust"s :)

oh. . .btw. . .surprisingly few "scientific facts" are actually "proven". . .most of them are still just theories. . .no one even knows what the hell electricity is yet and we use that shit everyday. . .

Every accepted scientific theory has peer reviewed emperical supporting evidence. By definition, science can never be "proven" but only disproven or given supporting evidence. Espousing Christian mythology is as valid as espousing Greek, Roman or any other mythology since it requires no supporting evidence, just belief.

i wanna punch u

Fuckin' psycho religious fanatics preaching in the classroom? Please.

That kid is smart as hell. Teachers gotta realize that young people have common
sense, likely have been to church or made their decision by then and know when
someone is forcing their views on them. Talk about a total misuse of 'authority'. I would have debated that fuck into a corner.

I bet the teacher was pretty old. No one (or I would hope) that grew up around my generation (Y) or right before (X) would have a better insight into the youth.

Young people are waaaay more informed these days.

i'm not specifically for or against any of this shit. . .i just like to argue and, i think we're all way to sensitive when it comes to certain subjects that, right or wrong, are completely acceptable and should be open for discussion. . .especially in an educational institution. . .the teacher wasn't preaching friggin beastiality for chrissakes!

I took a comparative religions class at a public high school. From the article this teacher was simply giving a narrow view and actually attacking another curriculum(science). Also, this wasn't an isolated incident.
