Now I've not done the straight bar deadlift since back in April when I messed up my back on a warmup set, so I'm not sure exactly what I was thinking.
Today I trained at a local gym and found myself working in with an 80Kg powerlifter and before I knew it there was 500lbs on the bar.
I pulled a very easy double which kinda suprised me, on the one hand it was cool to be able to pull that but on the other I was expecting more carryover from the trap bar deadlifts I've been doing for the last month. He went up to 550 but I couldn't get it off the ground with a flat back and I didn't want to risk humping it up.
then I tried GM's for the first time which totally kicked my ass. Even 135 was a real bitch to get out of the hole at the bottom of the lift. From now on I think I'm going to include these in my back workouts instead of partial DL's.
