i think i got SCAMMED on ebay.... what now

well i bought a cell phone from ebay. the last contact i've been able to have was the 24th of june... hmmmm funny same day i sent the money order.... well i cant get any kind of response from this guy and no phone has shown up....

am i shit out of luck?

I was scammed $900 by someone who set up an account using my debit card number recently. Anyone can do this with your card number, apparently, which the idiot credit card companies still print on most receipts. Any waiter or retail clerk can take the number, set up a seller account with nonexistent merchandise, then purchase it under a separate account using your card number.

aha! Since you MAILED the money order the person is guilty of MAIL FRAUD if they scam you. Very nasty penalties for this. AFAIK a "nastygram" can be sent by the Post Office to this person reminding them of this. And their lawyers will prosecute, not you - it's a criminal charge.

I do alot of wheeling and dealing on ebay. Once in awhile i'll get some loser.

Guys up above are right. Call him. I think most people on ebay dont realize once you buy/sell on ebay the other person has access to your phone number.

They dont know what to say or think when they realize who it is.

And i usually end up getting stuff/money sent overnight.

I'd contact ebay and the seller too. If you would have used paypal or a visa card, they will refund your money after an investigation is done

Leave the S.O.B. some bad feedback. Report it to ebay and aggravate the piss out of them until they have to take some sort of action. In an even that you do get the guys phone #...call him 40 times a day if you have to: run threats at him....and call him at 3 or 4 in the morning...eventually, his mentality or conscience will have to fold.

Go to Ebay home page... click "search". When that opens, at the top, under Search there are 3 links "find items", "find members", and "favorite searches". Click on "find members". About half way down that page, you'll see a block called "contact info" All you have to do is put the sellers user id in the block listed "user id" and the item number in the block listed as "item number", and hit "submit". About 10-30 seconds later, you'll receive an e-mail from Ebay with the seller's name, address, phone #, etc... Just be aware, the person you inquire about gets an e-mail with all YOUR info also at the same time. Of course, if he's really ducking you, that won't matter.

This is the exact reason I have a Paypal account, and I REFUSE to do any bus w/anyone on Ebay that doesn't accept Paypal. It makes things a whole lot easier if the person tries to screw you...

hmm..that wasn't so long ago. Ebay sellers sometime take up to a month to ship things.

on ebay they make you wait 30 days before you can file a complaint anyways...

you sure this person may not just be on vacation??

it also may have taken a few days for your money order to get there....

I would wait at least 3 weeks from the date you sent the MO till you call.

You should only buy on ebay through billpoint with a credit card that has fraud protection.
