Ive been using for about 8 months to get bigger for football and yea i got bigger ( 30 lbs bigger) but the other day i was running after the running back in practice and snap it felt like i got shot in the back of the leg. I fell to the ground and i was carried off and the team doctor checked me and felt a huge divot in the back of my leg and said i ripped my hamstring muscle in half-----he said im out for a month. God does these things for a reason but it sucks. I guess my legs cant handle the extra weight.

UGH! Sounds brutal Bro, hope you have a full and fast recovery.

Sweet Mary Mother, that's gotta hurt. Were you training legs (I assume so) during your cycle? Wish you a speedy recovery.

um.. i hate to break to you.. but if you truly had a considerable tear in the muscle, enough of one that you had a divot, a doctor say you tore it in half, and a shitton of bruising from the blood released in the tear......, you are going to be out for alot longer than a month.

so either the doc was exaggerating a little when he said you tore it in half and you actually just strained it (which is tearing of the muscle - but only a minimal amount), or he lied to you when he said that you'd be out for a month.

and really, it can be torn too bad (torn in half) if they don't have to surgically repair it... so really you have a strained hamstring.

Hey decem. How's it going bro? BTW, what do you mean "I hate to break it to you", I'd answer that response with "Thank God."

everything's good... except for tx and maddog raining on my pre-cycle parade today.

well.. it's "i hate to break it to you" if it really is a bad tear and he'll have to be out longer than a month.. but it's "quit trying to get sympathy... it's only a sprain" if it really is only a sprain..

They are right, if it really is a tear you will be out for more than a month. I've torn both hamstrings in the past and it is really hard to tell when the thing is healed. Both times I was able to still perform heavy quad dominant lifts, even conventional deadlifts... I just couldn't sprint or do open chain movements (ham curls, SDLs, hypers).

The first time I kept on training quads, and I think the resulting strength imbalance caused the second tear.

Also the tear could have been caused by changed running form due to the extra weight you put on. You might have been overstriding, which often causes hamstring tears.

Hey, dont waste more time. Check it ASAP and if it tore, better to do the surgery in the firsts 3 days. I already tore my pec and the doctor asked to me wait. Then one month after I did the surgery. he had to cut the two extremities of the tore muscle cause it was already cicatrizated. DONT WAIT MORE ONE DAY!!!
