I sincerely do not understand why the U.S. gives so much to Israel, please explain:

So far I gather that the U.S. gives an extraordinary amount of aid and technology to Israel. What I dont understand is if Israel is no different than any other crappy country we give aid to then why do we do it then? Is there some sort of special history we have with Isreal or am I missing something here? Its like there is some sort of special aura surrounding Israel whenever it gets brought up in the media. I sincerely dont understand it and if someone who succinctly knows the situation and/or history of this reasoning with Israel I would appreciate it. Thanks

It is the only democracy in the Middle East, we helped create it through the United Nations, it has been attacked by all of its neighbors several times, and most importantly, there are many prominent jewish people in America.

When every country around you decides to attack you and you win and take there land in the process, you have a right to that land until a peace agreement is reached. When Mexico attacked America, we soundly defeated them and in return took Texas, New Mexico, and California. We also gave them some money, but we kept all the land.

Plus, even if they received the same amount of money, Egypt is 10x the size of Israel so you cannot compare the two.

You are right we give $3 bil to Israel and $2.1bil to Egypt, but Egypt votes against us 61% of the time in the U.N. and Israel votes with us 95%. Egypt currently receives $1.3 billion a year in military aid. So to say we don't support the Arab states is wrong.

The US has a tendency to help out smaller, underdog type countries...And yes, the US does help Israel with weapons and technology..but don't count Israel short..If it weren't for the US working to keep the peace, Israel would be kickin some serious ass over there...Look at the size of Israel compared to it's enemies...hell, all of the middle east is Israels' enemy...Aint one of them that would mess with Israel without at least one other countrie's help...and Israel would still kick their asses...

The guy said if we had a muslim govt. we would give money to Arabs. I said we do give money to Arabs. Egypt, Jordan and Syria attacked Israel. The Arabs got all pissed off because they couldn't defeat a tiny little country and decided to stop the flow of oil. We have slowly but surely become less dependant on Arab oil and now get the most oil from Canada and Mexico. We brokered a piece deal with Israel, Jordan and Egypt. We have done more for the Arab world then any other country.
