Yes, folks, only forty-five years after Tales of Suspense #39, you can finally own a full-size Iron Man bust, limited edition, recreated in fiberglass using the original movie-prop molds from the Stan Winston studios and then finely hand-finished... for a mere $699.

I was a big comic book fan back in the day, and have been enthused about the Batman, Spiderman, X-Men, and Hulk movies. But Iron Man...I could care less; I thought the comic book sucked, so I have to assume the movie will suck.
 
I liked both Shellhead and Ant Man, because they created their powers. That was a running theme with Stan Lee's stuff, actually; even Spider-Man had to build his web shooters (not like in the movie, where he just 'grew' them). And the X-Men had to train in the Danger Room (this was years before Star Trek's holodeck).

Forty-five years, peeps... 1963 was the year that all of the Marvel greats got their start.

The writer for X-Men back in the '70s once told me he would have cast Robert Blake, the guy who played Baretta, as Wolverine. Problem is it took them twenty years to get around to making the movie. :D

Dang, you guys probably only know Blake as that weirdo who was accused of murdering his wife. Anybody else here who used to watch Baretta?

Been having troubles with sound and video playing. I think I'm due for an update of something. I just hate updating anything cause with microsoft products you'll usually create 5 problems trying to solve one.

I read the Xmen early on.. but after a while, it got to be nothing but panel after panel of fucking dialogue. It was tedious.

Avengers, Spiderman and Batman were mine usual. Back when comics were 0.25.

Then it bounced up to 35 cents. OMG. And now I think they are like $3.95

I used to buy a lot of Weird War Tales and Tales of Suspension from the flea market down the street.

This reminds me, people keep complaining that "we don't explain our actions." Sometimes it's legitimate but much of the time it just takes the form of whining, to the point that I long ago made it policy that "mods don't have to explain anything unless they choose to."

Well, Needto takes that extra step. He wastes his time justifying himself even when someone is being an utter and obvious jerk.

And this is the thanks he gets, huh? Well, thank you; you just proved I was right all along.

Actually, he just proved you wrong. He violates the same rules members do while taking it public and making threats to ban when it should be private. Sometimes it is legitimate but much of the time it takes the form of bullying, to the point point that mods should have to explain so other members understand and don't make the same mistake.

It is laughable really. Thanks and respect should be earned, not tried to be forced.

So when some one makes a thread asking what happen to a member we should just banned them to and not say anything right?

Also I always liked warnings to be don in the open so that person and others can see a warning was given. That way people can't say ( well why was he not given a waning) But I guess we can just forget that to, and just make with the banning and time outs. With no one asking a damn thing about it or they gets the bands to.

Nice I kind of like that then.

I don't understand this concept. If someone is banned then they have done something wrong that obviously you wouldn't want someone else to do... so why not tell other members what NOT TO DO. Its a three ring circurs here at times.

Yes well thats what I like to do. But it seems thats called being a bully now. lol :heart:

I am still going to run things the same in aas though. The members there give and get respect. They understand why things are the way they are. :)

Sugar this is C&C We all have opinions and assholes... I believe we all should should be able to express our opinions on any given subject on C&C. For a more serious thread concerning diet/nutrition/aas... we go to those forums. Isn't that right?

I just feel that if someone does something wrong what is the issue with giving the details of the wrong doings to the forum? No one is right all the time. We are losing good quality members due to their voice of opinion, and I think that is asisine.

Can't we all just get along?

I have been disrespected so much on this forum i've lost count... but I open myself up for it. So eh! Its open conversation... I have also voiced my opinion to others in response. I can be serious about diet and training but that is in the forum it belongs in... this IMO is all bullshit and brushed off.

You know there was a time where the mods/admin would have a discussion on the mod board or not. Sometimes there would be an email (before PM's) and BOOM! offender was banned and the board bid good riddance to them as EVERYONE knew that rules - RESPECT.

I have been *gently guided* on many occasions and on others was told *it is THEIR WAY (meaning admin) OR THE HIGHWAY* so I had two choices and seeing as how I am still here, I am willing to wager that ya'll know which path I chose.

If I didn't respect the authority of elite then I would just leave (quietly) and not return. How hard is that?

If there is a misunderstanding with mods or administration, the chat board is NOT the place to work it out.

So now, Needto, I have to say that seeing as how much I LOVE "THE NEW OLDSCHOOL FEEL" on elite I would have to say that I support digger's point of view about these matters.

And for those who think that ASKING board members to *play nicely* is some sort of censorship - IT IS NOT. For goodness sakes, hasn't a teacher or a parent or a boss of yours EVER told you the same?

And Frisky, I know what you mean about being disrespected round these parts as I believe I have the dubious distinction of holding that title :whatever:... and all over the damned web for that matter. That is what you were forced to tell yourself when all the ASSWHOLES were not either told to rephrase themselves or shown the door. As I said, I REALLY REALLY REALLY like the *new oldschool elite*. I think you would find that it is much less chaotic and far more user friendly.

If anyone (myself included) does not like the atmosphere, there are plenty of other elitefitness wanabe sites that will welcome you (dunno bout me LOL) with open arms.

I am SO FREAKING GLAD that elite has finally come of age. :)

In the meantime, DC can't seem to get it right? The new Batman looks good but Superman Returns was only so-so.

Hollywood accounting -- Marvel hasn't seen much of that loot. They keep selling the rights piecemeal to wannabes who see them as a tax loss or a cheap source of ideas. No one -- so far -- has picked up on the idea of the Marvel Universe, and how immersive it is to have all those characters playing off each other. Maybe someday we'll get some WoW players in power, and they'll realize "Hey, we've got a whole UNIVERSE to play with here!"

Iron Man is the first movie Marvel OWNS outright. I hope it brings in buckets of loot and gives them Hollywood clout to own all their characters again. That's the only way we'll ever get an Avengers movie.
