I need some advice

This may be a no brainer but I have a chance to move hospital systems here in cali.

I would go from CHW to kaiser.

CHW as of right now I work 12p-12a make base 44.33/hr plus all the OT I want. I have been there for 2 years and know the people. its a fun place to work but mnagement sucks ass. The union is not very strong so we get fucked all the time. If we report it to the union they find away around it and fuck us again. Great medical benes

Kaiser pays a lot more. They will be to Bay area pay in a year or 2. I would start out at 49.98 but it is 7p-7a with a $7/hr night shift diff. Thats another 12 k a year. I would only have to work my 3 days a week and make what I make pulling OT a CHW. Union is strong and the nurses dont put up with bullshit from management. I will make base about 110k/year working only 3 days a week. Medical benes are better.

The only bad thing about Kaiser is the 7p-7a hours which I have done for years. They say once you get your foot in the door you can move around to get the shift you want once one opens up. Seniority is take very very very seriously there and i would hav to waut my turn. I would make base almost 30k/yeaqr more. which is why I wanna move.


Do you all think it would be worth the 7p-7a shift? I know what I wanna do but then it may take time away from my lil girl Emma because of the hours. I dunno if it will.

Emma will be sleeping during that time and its only 3 days a week with no overtime and its (lots) more money!

also, HH is po and wants you to pay her electric bill

Not saying its a lot, but its enough not to complain about how you're getting screwed. Then again cost of living might be a little different there.

yeah true
but cost of living in cali is ridiculous isnt it? (my understanding anyway)

also Im gunna sell my crappy house here in DC for $400k+ and buy a way nicer/newer/bigger one in Wisconsin for less than $300k. Plus i';ll be making $30k+ more a year. this is gonne be sweeeeeet
 
From what you've said - Kaiser looks like the best choice.

Other factors should be in play tho - do you enjoy where you're at? is your job stable? coworkers fun? close to home? etc. etc.

Don't fret too much. I left the IT cubicle monkey world years ago. And took my advanced greek god skillset home. A funny thing happened I make MORE money now, and companies pay me BIG BUCKS to do the same shit. Odd and kinda funny.

While 7p-7a shift sucks ass (I crashed my car twice on the way home from that shift (once after another 4 hours OT))...as you know, once you're in there you can move around pretty easily. People are always moving and changing shit up so you could get another shift fairly quickly.

Kaiser was always paying more and had better bennies down here. We had one nurse who was PT @ Kaiser w/ full bennies and worked per diem at our hosp. She liked Kaiser a lot.

I Think it's worth it even though you'll have that 7p-7a shift for a while. And, usually...the people thtat work nights are cooler. Plus, you don't have to worry about all the management being there (although I hated my lead(s) and couldn't stand when they were there too).

I'm sure you'll make new friends there and the people will be just as cool after a while. It's always a little tougher being the new guy on the team. But, Noc shift regulars are used to that too.

Sounds like a good move bro. I'd do it. You could always stay per diem at CHW too, depending on what they require for availability...and if you're in good with person who does the schedule! Or not. Sounds like the only benefit to that would be a social one.

the peole are fun. I enjoy most everywhere I work. I have fun and others have fun around me. Distance now is the same but it is closer to where we are building but not much closer.

I am sure ill make the move cause I love money.
 
do it while she is young, and make the cash so when she is older you can be more there for her
