I need help

I don't want to divulge all of my personal info, but I think i have a MAJOR problem on my hands.


I think someone is lying to me. I confronted this person about something. They denied the alligation. Not once did the person make eye contact. Infact the person just layed down facing the TV. The conversation was very calm. The person just kept on denying it in a very calm collective manner.

Now if I was acused of something this serious, i'd be all over the acuser. I would get upset and defend my innocence at all costs.

I don't want to get into the whole thing. But what do you all think?
 
If this is a situation in which is extremely important for the future of your relationship with this person I would definitely try to emphasize the importance of getting to the truth.

If you can, calmy talk to this person about the problem telling the person why you suspect they are "guilty" and try to let them voice their opinions/feelings. Stress that you care about the person and no matter what (hoping this is true) you will still care and love the person.

If the problem is BIG and they know they will hurt you if they admit to it its going to be harder for the person to be truthful.

If this is a problem with your spouse and there is no way he will come to terms and talk about it then I would definitely be worried if this is a BIG problem as it appears to be. It may even put a strain on your relationship and lead to worse things.

May I play devils advocate? Maybe your accusation is completely off base, and he's trying to deal with you and hes just trying to watch some sports on the TV that he appens to be facing. Do you have any substantial proof of your accusation? Why are you trying to judge his guilt or innocence based on his body language? Im really feeling this guys pain right now, Lisa.

Of course I dont know but trying to catch some tube on a summer Sunday afternoon seems perfectly ordinairy to me.

No! And like I said, I can't really get into it. I know this is dumb, it's like telling someone, "oh something happened, but I can't tell you."

It's way too embarrasing, and I don't want to talk about it yet. Right now, it's still settling in my stomach.

It sounds to me that your situation is personal in nature. From your description it sounds like someone you really care about. I don't know how long you have known the person or if they always have been truthful to you. In my experience, when a person does not make eye contact with you, and their body language is such that they look uncomfortable from the usual, they are most likely lying to you. I personally never deal with anyone who cannot make eye contact, it usually means they are trying to pull a fast one on you. You said you are still in school, so I would assume they individual you are talking about is in their very early 20's. I would have serious questions for this person. However if I knew the situation better, I'd say more.

flexygrl, if this has to do with deception in a relationship, you may pm me. I have a fair amount of experience in this area, and ideas for what you may and may not want to do to make matters worse.

I hope this problem turns out ok for you. Like Cass ,I figured you were thinking your husband might be cheating. I'm glad its not that at least. But whatever it is has obviously upset you very much. I'm around if you ever need someone to chat with : )

thanks everyone. Well the emotions seem to be settling down and ofcourse the rational brain is now taking over. I am so glad I posted on here, before I did anything stupid!!!!

It's still an issue. But like most things in life, I can't freak out about what I can't control. I just need to sit tight and let everything work itself out. I will keep you all posted.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful and caring people on this board. I trully consider each and everyone of you as my family and I am so glad that you were all there for me. Just posting gave me a couple minutes to let the adrenoline come down-or the estrogen....I am feeling much more calm now. What will be will be, I guess.

If anyone ever needs me for anything, please do not hesitate to contact me! I trully mean that, in every sense of the word!

This was a totally seperate issue. As of yet, I am soooo confused. I don't know what to do. I just can't believe this is real.
