I need a lesson in American slang?

Good evening Ladies & Bruce?s.

I would like to pose a question regarding certain words that was not a part of my English education. And since English is not my first language, and it has such a dominant place in the world today, I'm always eager to widen my horizon.

First of all, during my travels in the EF world I have noticed that you have a tendency to call each other bro (the male members at least). I understand this to be a friendly term directed to those you share some common ground with, like in this instance, BB, fitness and a healthy living. I also assume that broly is an extension of this!? But sometimes you also call your fellow elite members, bor and orb. What's with that? Is this a slightly different term, meaning the same thing as bro?

I'm also curious on what you mean when you call someone a TOOL? Am I right when I perceive this as a negative term, and when someone is calling you a TOOL, they are far from impressed with you at that moment.

Is the term TOOL related to the screwdriver, which is of course an instrument used to screw things with? And also since American slang dictates that when you're screwed, or have been screwed over, you are not having a pleasant day. Unless of course you are referring to having sexual intercourse, which if I?m not quite mistaken, is rather pleasant. But since there are a "helluva" lot more Americans, than ringperm people, I guess you already knew that ;)

When we're at the subject of sex, and its use in the English language, why do you also, in most cases, use the word "fuck" as a negative term?
Somewhere I have this .wav file that explains the use of this word in the English language? It was most enlightening, and entertaining. But it failed to explain why this is so.

So if any of you out there have any information you might want to share with me, regarding this. That would be most appreciated.
Since I know that the karma thing is a valid commodity on this board, I would gladly share what I have, to those generous souls that will help me expand my knowledge of the English language.
Thank you for your attention, this has been fun, and may the holy hand grenade protect you on your journeys

Regards,

Ringperm

PS: I apologize for any misspelled words and grammatical errors in this post

I would say tool is like way worst than bro. Tool is a jerk or idiot I think.

Yes, I had considered that possibility.
Thank you for confirmig this.
Do you happen to know the story behind this term?

I have to admit that possibility had never occured to me, but it didn't answer any of my questions, so I fail t see the relevance.

But I'll give you props for good creative thinking. You must make someone very proud

What does props mean btw?

dudes - can you translate this for the man:

It looks like Letterman has a black dork and just shot a facial on the fruitcake.
lol exactly...

Tool= not very bright...a tool, such as a hammer, has no brain...when you call someone a tool, it minds they are dim, slow, etc.

orb, bor, obr(new one?) is a misspelling of bor...

Damn where you right about that ;)

This was actually quite funny, I had never imagined starting a thread by sheer boredom, could generate such entertaining feedback. I'm laughing my ass of here.

You type pretty good english for a damn foreigner..
You aren't a T Head are you ?

Bro - Short for Brotha which is slang for Brother as in Friend
(he aint heavy.. he's my Bro..)

TOOL - 95% of the people on this board.

The other 5% are either gays, mental deviants or (Cool People that are just a bit off center - Y_lifter)

Thank you. I grew up watching Falcon Crest, thought me a bit english, and a thing or two about life ;)
But apparently my language skills is lacking in a few areas, since I have no idea what a T Head is.

Slang is the last thing you pick up in a new language.. It only comes from
actual conversation and asking WTF when you hear a term you don't know

the whoel orb/bor thing comes from intentional creative misspelling. it's a popular form of throw-away humor on this board. you'll also see people referring to avatars as avlardos, assatars, ervardars etc

tool just means someone who blindly follows a trend or whatever without thinking.

fuck is just the most vulgar way to say "have sex"

t-head = towel head, very offensive term for a middle easterner, a former member here used that term among other unflattering things about Arabs and got banned for it.

Actually this thread turned out to be more informative than I had first anticipated, thanks for that.

Regarding the question about my origin, I'm not middle eastern, but Scandinavian
