I`m sending my child to DayCare. Am I "giving up?"

What kind of infections are you talking about?

What is going to happen when they go to school? Same thing. Every year, children are exposed to new people and new germs.

Some people opt to not have their children vacinated for whatever reason. Often times these parents do not place their children in childcare centers, schools, etc.

I recall having a little girl I worked with once who was not vacinated but did attend preschool part-time. Her parents completely sheltered her. She had a high mercury level so her parents didn't vacinate her for that reason. Weird. She was not allowed to eat cake when other children had birthdays, etc. She would only whisper to anyone. She was terrified of a lot of things also. Anyways, now I'm off topic here.

For parents who opt not to place their children in childcare they have other great choices as well. They can create and attend play groups with other parents in their community. Often times these parents also either end up working at the school at some capacity or volunteering at the school if they place their child in school. A lot of times they also decide to home school. I don't think one way is better than another for most parts. A parent who is always up the kid's ass is doing nothing good for that child though. They think they are keeping their children safer by not exposing them to infections and such but sometimes they are only making the child an easier target for infections.

What ever became of this? Is your child attending that center now?

First are you nder 125 pounds? lol jk

OK That night I typed out a really long response and it got deleted somehow. I typed it out again and it got deleted AGAIN. Had to shut my computer down and I never came back after that.

We are still looking around at more places. That list you gave me has helped (thank you) We are now going towards a "school" type place where it`s from a Sept - June year. They also have Summer camp it`s in the same place just a different name with no schooling(classes).

This place we`re looking into is privately owned and is`nt on the NAEYC list but it looks promising. I`m actually calling them today to set up an appointment. Child needs to be at least 2.5 years old, mine is 2+2 months now. But will just make the deadline by September. (actually she`ll miss it by 2 days) Don`t know how strict they are. There`s so much other stuff, I`m burnt out just looking... and stuff. I really thought we were going to the original place we had intended. I`m glad we kept looking. I think a school atmosphere would be better than just a childcare center. Of course it would have to be affordable to us as well.

I`m hoping after this meeting we`ll have a decision of where to go.
