i just watched "hoarders" on A&E

stilleto

ELITE MENTOR
EF VIP
its about... hoarders. people who can not throw anything away. they live in PILES and piles of stuff. garbage mostly. collections of tons of things they never use. they attach sentimental value to everything.

The two stories tonight- one was a family where the wife was a compulsive shopper, her husband a compulsive hoarder. There wasn't any part of their floors that wasn't covered in garbage. You couldn't walk through the kitchen. They had three kids that they were afraid of losing.

The other story was a woman who was a food hoarder. She couldn't throw food away and had rotten meat and produce everywhere. nomatter what it was, or when it expired, if it wasn't exploding, she thought she'd use it.

watching that show made me want to clean.

lol my son has been waiting for an entire week to watch this show. he is so intrigued by it, he cant believe people actually live like that

that was sick.
why didn't she throw out that rotten pumpkin herself? what the hell was she waiting for?

she was in such denial, she literally forgot those rotting pumpkins and squash were in that room. remember the dude was like "is there something rotting in here" shes like "no not in here"

I hate a fuckin pack rat my x wife was one of those people who could never let go of clothes and shoes drove me nuts filled every closet in the house with shit that was 10 yrs old. After 2 yrs with the exception of suits and leather jackets im thinning out and updating.

I worry that the food hoarder is incapable of taking care of herself.... She seems A&Ox3 for sure, but she's freaking mental.

yeah. "OH! in the other room I have some apples that are starting to go bad."

yeah, 3 years ago.

My dad hoards stuff. He is not as bad as people on the show but he will collect shit and never throw it away. He still sends me newspaper clippings from papers from like 15 years ago. It drives me insane. He also has saved every damn E-mail I have ever sent him. He will re-send me these E-mails and it drives me nuts.

I on the other hand am very well organized and do not keep crap.

Crazy stuff. I like that intervention show on A&E too. Did you guys see the one with that ex bodybuilder Derek? He was eating cigs, hitting walls, yelling at his family, and wanted to die.

I missed that one. I love that show. I rarely watch TV and that is one of the few ones I watch.

So, in a way, Elite is a hoarder of threads. Huh, you'll have that I guess.

OH, and...

3 for 3 in the bookie bitchez!! Cha-Fucking-Ching!!!!

Whiskey

i had been waiting for that fucking show too and i missed it :(

my dad is like that but not to that extreme level... he has 3 storage sheds filled with absolutely nothing. it's costing him about 3500 a year to rent those sheds filled with NOTHING. he has to have like 10/10 vision cause he always see's shit on the road and will actually stop to pick it up. its usually a tool or something to that nature. one time he picked up a pocket knife... i told him great someone threw out a murder weapon and you picked it up... it's fucking annoying!!!

great show! too bad they never show you 18 months or 2 years later. i would love to see the actual success rate for recovering addicts. ive read as low as 10%.

they did have one episode that was Intervention Follow Up where they went back to two people who had gone through the intervention to see how they were doing now. Of course there were relapses since the show but both were on the road to recovery

Hoarders of varying degrees have haunted me my entire life:

My father and mother weren't hoarders, but neither of them believed in wasting things or letting good stuff get thrown out. When my mother passed away I was left with a lot of "stuff" that was very carefully stored (when I emptied the kitchen, there was enough stuff for three families). I still haven't emptied out half the attic of her shit.

My ex husband was a "collector" (which is a hoarder of expensive shit). I have to clear the other half of the attic of the shit he left because he couldn't fit it all in his new place.

My former mother in law was a full blown shopaholic who didn't get rid of anything. Her disease had driven her to bankruptsy before the 80s were over.

My current (late) mother in law was a full blown hoarder, as in there were paths through the newspaper and magazine piles.

My current husband is very bad at getting rid of things and has trouble with organization, he's the one who cluttered up the basement. Luckily, he is willing to accept my help and let's me clear shit out.

I watched that show last night and I wanted to start throwing shit out of my attic window ... it even got my husband excited about clearing shit out.

I've never met a so called hoarder in my life. From what I'm reading it seems to be an elderly thing. Is this correct?

2 points here:

1 - i would be an alcoholic if i was living in canada too.

2 - whording is not an elderly disease. its usually triggered early on and develops in severity as time passes. there is always a trigger though. it may not be easy to assign a label to what the trigger was, but in psych sessions it usually comes out. its a gross disorder when its bad. cant move around the house anywhere in severe cases. people sleeping on the floor in front of their front door because that is the only open space. terrible.

I would imagine it falls under the spectrum of ocd/anxiety disorders

it reminds me of when I got divorced all my crap was stored in the barn...
the roof leaked all over everything and it all got thrown out
I remember going through it all trying to see if anything was really irreplaceable...I had boxes upon boxes of books I had never even read
I wound rescuing like one 24"x 24" box of stuff
the rest got thrown out... like four/five pick-up bed loads

I refuse to have that much useless stuff ever again

I got this rare ocd, where I stare at women with tats right above the booty. It's controling mylife.

lol....
you could try behavior modification
a. don't look
b. nothing going gay couldn't fix
c. slam your cock in a window
d. continue to look but hand over your ss#, passwords, pin #s, bank accounts and all credit cards

:)

i hoard chicks. i have them piled up on every square foot of my apartment, its getting a little rediculious.

Yep.

Generally speaking, believe it or not, most hoarders are extreme perfectionists.

I can't ever look away.

What kind of logic is this? Stop fuckin' around. I live by the pussy and die by the pussy.
c. slam your cock in a window

My cock is immuned to pain, it's like steel.

Don't need to. Got game. I always get what I want. I'm going to let it slide this time EF rookie.

:)

The only way this will stop is by being exposed to my very vice and it must be in abundance. Im convinced this is the only way to properly treat me.

haha...
if you've got game how is it controlling your life???
no need to let it slide....I can take whatever you've got

Actually the couple on A&E were young enough to have a toddler and kids in like kindergarten or 1st grade.

The thing with hoarding, you don't just suddenly flip your lid and that much shit accumulates overnight. It usually takes decades to accumulate so much that anyone else becomes aware of your problem is all and then the department of health gets involved, or if you're renting, the landlord freaks out.

That's just it. My game is so good my vice is feed everyday. Before we move any further, I need to admit more about my condition. See, I haven't been competely honest with you. Not only do I look, but a more hands on appoarch takes place, among other things. This really gots a hold on me, shirlene29.

LOL! Easy rookie. Don't push it.

I actually do believe super obesity to be rooted in mental illness.

I agree. Puddlemonekey should get help. He's so sick. Bet he's stuffing is fat face right now. Poor fat bastard. He needs to be treated for fat fuckism. He's about 2 burgers away from having a heart attack.

nah not racist...factual

they're little and there are lots of em.....

I agree that it is rooted in mental illness but is also a regression to primitive parts of the brain that control survival....

take for instance ...I have a dog with an "eating disorder" that will eat anything edible put in front of her because she was neglected/abused some 5 years ago, she simply does not get full and thinks that if she doesnt eat right now everything she'll starve..

its not totally the same obviously but there is my hypothesis

Just to clarify, we wouldn't let you into Canada.
We have a thing against people with two names used as one.

I have a dog who I found starving. He was very protective of his food but over time we trained him to eat with our other dog and he changed.
