I just took my LAST hydro

i don't understand how people like that stuff??? especially the really hoppy stuff. hops smells like dirty feet standing in a puddle of old urine on a frat house floor...and it tastes like the after-taste of vomit...one of those really good ones...where you've emptied everything out of your gut and now your pulling up bile.

please respond.

Dark beers are not hoppy. They are malty. IPA's are hoppy. And except for a few specific IPA's, on a rare occasion, I cannot stand them.

i like dark beers...in small doses...they seem to fill me up even quicker than regular (i.e., shitty? haha) beer...this is one of my favorites...but it's seasonal...

Penn Brewery - Pennsylvania Brewing Co. - Est. 1986 > Our Beer > Our Beers > Seasonal > St. Nikolaus Bock

Most dark beers are considered sipping beers that are paired with meals. Watered down Pilsners and Lagers or session beers are for chugging at pool parties and BBQ's.

That Bock does look tasty though.

when it comes to non-run-of-the-mill brew? i'm partial to penn because i lived near the brewery for a number of years and i feel a nostalgic connection to it...plus they make a damn fine product imho.

Founders never makes it's way to CA. I really need to go on a road trip beer tasting south of the mason dixon line one of these days.

their breakfast stout is pretty damn good too. makes me a little crazy though. Or maybe that was terrapin wake n bake
