reading sucks man, i hope u dont mean novels. novels being required to read in class is like forcing people to walk on hot coals. -some people get their jollys off on it- and others cant stand it and almost pass out.

No academic purpose? I'll have to disagree with you there....reading is FANTASTIC and improves your thinking process as well as increase vocabulary. Just think about all the EF Posts you've read and all that you've learned from the good bros here. Why, even Frisky is teaching you about semen.

However, I totally agree with you with the forced into reading school thing....that can be a real drag.

Our senior english teacher let us pick our own from a list of 50+ books...the bad thing about that is you can't discuss themes/topics together as a class..so they force a reading on you for that purpose.

well i thelps with vocabulary and literary studying an dstuff, but i already knew i wasnt going to do anything that requires those skills by the time i got into 6th grade....

if anything english (For me at least, and others that arnt going into literary type majors) should only be required grammar and vocab in english class..

thats how i feel, but its a good thing i didnt cause i somehow am fucked over with the same english teacher..

oh well, her class is easy to cheat in but she gives me B's
