I just got in a fucking fight. I lost it

kinda.. not exactly but the confidence does help but there is SOOOOO much more to it. i have never seen a true martial arts person start an unnecessary fight in my life.

see to most people fighting is something out of the norm. and thats what causes that adrenaline rush and makes you lose focus.

if you train everyday doing something similar fights become more like posting on elite.. just something youve done thousands of times, you can do it without thinking, it doesnt scare you, you are prepared no big deal and no fear and no fight/flight reaction

on top of that you have a better respect for all possible outcomes in a fight.. most people when a fight start do not realistically think about what could happen they just react. again keeping a clear head will help you out

THank you. I wish I had the time to take some type of martial art. Not tae-kwon-do. (It doesn't apply very well to street fighting I think and takes too much time to learn). I have some boxing skills but in a street fight, I would do exactly like you said, have an adrenaline rush and go crazy and do not know what would happen. I could defeat most people by athleticism, strenght, quickness. But, I do get afraid when I think something might happen and I don't like the feeling of being afraid. It pisses me off. LOL
What would you suggest to take that wouldn't involve a lot of time. A crash course in street fighting or something?

i train with people who only train once a week or even 2x a month total.. now these guys arent going to the ufc or anything like that but they still get a lot out of the classes.

if you find a good school there are tons and tons of benefits both physically, mentally and socially.

if you find some type of grappling school with a good instructor you will learn a lot very quickly trust me you will be very suprised what a few hours will teach you!!

also most grappling schools will teach some self defense techniques. My instructor tries to show the new people about 1 a week. these should literally take only 15 minutes to learn the whole point is to just be very simple and very effective.

you might also want to look into thai boxing which is very effective or see if there is a qualified krav maga instructor in your area. both are very very effective self defense /offensive styles that take a lifetime to master but not so long to become efficient against most would be attackers.

I know I am bias to the 99th degree but i would really suggest you see if there is judo in your area and take a look. you could easily go once a week and learn a good amount. you will get in better shape and probably meet a bunch of cool people.

if you are interested in taking somethign up just open the phone book and see whats available in your area and let me know..i can tell you what each style is about and what to expect if you want. if you pm me your general location i could give you a list of schools..

give it a shot.. you wont regret it!!!!

good luck.

Thanks a bunch. Definitely something I want to do someday when I have time. How do you wrestle these 300+ pound fat asses that I see every day? I look at them and think the only way I'd be able to kick their asses would be to punch them on the jaw repeatedly and fast.

that's EXACTLY what happened to me.

SO I was playing dodgeball and this one dude totally stepped over the line on the final out on the team..I mean like his back foot was straddling the line. So anyways I called him out on it and he was all argumentative, we had a couple of words/gestures, whatever.

For some reason I got madder and madder as the game progressed. Later on in the game I had been hit so I was walking out and someone else hit me and I was like WTF?!? that's supposed to be a butts-up at the end of the game (where the offender "assumes the position" and you get a free shot) but some dude was like, no that's not illegal.

We play in a raquetball court and when you get out you just have to keep a hand on a wall. You can redirect the balls back to your team as long as you keep your hand on the wall. So this dude was out, the dude who cheated, and I was like, so it's legal if I hit you? And he's like "yeah" so I peg him. I think later on I pegged him in the face too.(yeah I was being a real cock...like I said I lost it)

So a few minutes later I am feigning that I am going to hit him, and I was over near him, and I get him to react like he's going to try to block it, and then I wind up and throw it and somehoe he ended up smaking me in the face. I lost it. I had him in a headlock and was screaming, and we went to the floor, or to a knee or something. This other dude just held me and I eventually relaxed. Once we got disentangled I said, truce and either slapped or shook his hand. We broke for water, and when we got back I apologized to everyone. On the original game there were two girls. They left after the break, don't know if they were busy or freaked out or what.

The thing that scares me is I was so ready to just poound this little guy's face into a pulp. I wanted to hurt him so bad. Looking back I am so ashamed of myself.

you were serious about playing dodgeball? I thought you were kidding LOL.

I better warn the guys you play marbles with, you maniac!!!!! ;)

You guys should've had a dance-off like in Zoolander. The crowd would've gone wild.

Dance-off? What the.. jesus man..

it's a WALK-OFF..

that was pretty much your worst misquote ever. I should have Billy Zane come kick your ass.

the best way to handle someone who outweighs you once you are already on the ground is to gang up more of your muscles against his. so you try to use your arms/back/abs/legs to get an armbar this way you have all those muscles working for you against his bicept. of course you need to be able to neutralize the rest of his body. but you accomplish that with positioning into the correct situations. you also try to take them off balance.. even when ground fighting balance is a key factor.

when i am standing and going against someone much bigger i get them moving as much as possible.. i love to set up foot sweeps through movement rather then off balancing my opponent with my arms. also foot sweeps set up every other move which really helps out

pretty much the whole point behind judo was to take ju jitsu techniques and make them more effective especially for a smaller man against a weaker man. it took the existing techniques and applied more of a scientific approach and addresses leverage, momentum, and basic phsyics to make the techniques more effective. the founder of judo was a very small man something like 60kg

when competing/practicing MMA (kinda ufc stuff) if i am going against someone much bigger i dont want to spend much time in his striking range.. i want to quickly and effectively close the distance and take the fight to the matt hopefully using a good takedown or throw which will allow me to land in a dominate position on the ground.

sorry im long winded but if you havent guess i really like this stuff :)
