I've been in this job for only a few months. Most poeple probably don't remember/didn't pay attention but I used to be in a really shitty job with a super-shitty relationship with my boss and I applied for a shitload of jobs and got this one (within same organization).

this job has proved infinitely more rewarding, and I've been doing some stuff but I am still learning. So I was really surprised when I got notice of a $900 cash award (I couldn't get a merit-based raise cos my old boss had influence on my performance review so I just got the regular COLA. I guess someone understood, cos the new division I am in has the right to award cash bonii even if they couldn't give me a larger raise due to a better review.

It's not much, but man I feel so much better now. I'm gonna personally thank my boss tomorrow.

Congrats, that's awesome. I'm glad you've found a better and more rewarding job. Going to a job that you hate every day, and knowing that there's 20, 30, 40, 50 years of it ahead of you (provided you don't change careers/jobs) would suck. I'm glad you've found a job that you find rewarding!
