I just did 17 pullups...

Last time I repped out it was exactly 17. I repped out at 105 pushups. This was a while back though, a couple of years. Don't know if I could do that many now, especially with a torn pec that is not fully healed. Good job, 17 is excellent.
 
I haven't done unweighted pullups in forever.. but I'm 190lbs and can do 9 with a 35lb plate so...

used to be able to do 25 wide grip...about 20 now.....but ive never done them fresh
 
20 perfect , back in High School, competed in USMC fitness competition. Having a perfect 500 score at the time. 5 events, push ups, pull-up, standing broad jump, crunches, 300 yard shuttle.

I competed in the nationals where I did 20. I believe it was 2 sec hang at bottom, then chin over bar. No regard to speed tho. As long as chin was above bar and you had your 2 sec hang at the bottom....................PULL!!!
 
Pullups is about one of my favorite excercises. I love how it stretches and stimulates the spine and muscles. I can easily do 25+, and usually do 100+ pullups spread out throughout the day on the door bar :o
 
The Marines had a pull-up station set up a few years at our local fair. You won prizes based on how many you did. (Girls had to hang w/chins on bar for so long).

I got 16. They made sure you came all the way down too because some poeple try to only come half-way down.

I don't weigh as much as some of you fat asses though.

Heh, they had one of those at Ozzfest in 2002.

Most women cant do any. In school when we did the President's physcial fitness assessments we (girls) only had to do the flexed arm hang as opposed to the pullups for the boys. What irks me is that at age 13 (8th grade) I could do 5 and now after a solid year of training I can still only do 7. Arm strength is a bitch to build for women.

When I was in the Marine Corps, I would do 20 without swinging my body like it was cool. Now I only do them with a plate strapped on and I'm good for about 10 before my workout partner has to help get the rest of the way up. I'll bet I could still do 20 the old way, if the notion ever struck me.

I watched some skinny bastard do 47 the other day.......I was quite impressed.......although his form sucked, and he was hauling ass.......either 47 is a fuckload.........

After tearing my lat last year.....I'm lucky if I can do 15......before that.....we'll let's just say it was a lot for a 270+ pounder.......
 
today i did 8 and then 7 with a 20lb db and then hit 8 with bodyweight. my lats didn't come to the gym today and spent the entire hour back at home watching CHiPS

If my choices were hang with you, or watch CHiPS I would've made the same decision.
 
I did 18 last night. Could have done a few more, but I didn't wanna burn myself out for the rest of my sets. Interestingly enough, I did burn myself out. I managed a few sets after that, going 6, 4, 4, 3. Bleh.

i seen a top level ncaa pole vault bro do 20 so easy and so smooth

Not true. For the most part the less you weigh the easier they are. Rock climbers are a prime example. They're wirey as hell and lots of em can bust out 2 finger hold 1 arm pulls up. I'm talking real 1 armed pullsup not the kind were you grab on to your wrist.

What matters is wheter you're doing it with proper form (ie sternum touching bar or keeping the head under the bar)
 
yep, no swing.

i can't seem to do any more sets after that, i'm pretty much completely toasted. i have trouble doing 2 or 3

(the second set of 12 was more like a 11.5)
