I hope I stop growing...and a blurb on training

Seriously, this shit is out of hand. I don't want to be massively massive and I felt like a freak today in the gym. I did not care for that feeling. I am going to cut way back on my calories and just not lift for a while.

On the plus side, I am even more convinced regarding the way to go about progressing is to focus on individual muscles and try to bring 2-3 of them up at a time. Be sure to train everything over the course of the week, but lower the volume for the parts you feel are ahead size-wise, and then blast the few parts you are trying to bring up by upping the volume slightly for a few weeks. Then, after 4 weeks or so of that, move to a couple other bodyparts and blast them for a few weeks while the rest of you heals up. Works like a charm every time.

I've never had the fortune of having that problem but cutting calories and raising reps to say the 20 range and also increasing cardio should do a better job of creating a tighter, cut physique than stopping lifting temporarily, I would imagine?

I was going 6 times a week for a while. I went today after only taking two days off - which was the first two days in a row I have taken in weeks. I am just way ahead of schedule from having spent a shit ton of time in the gym lately and then eating my face off when outside of it. Cut my calories yesterday and today and I am starting to feel a little better.

I plan to do what you are saying in the next week or so I just need a break before I commit to cutting for 10 weeks.

Hmm, well, I'm glad you have that problem, it must not be so bad.

I'm confused about how your split is. Did you do something like,
back
chest
off
legs
back
shoulders/arms

So you hit the one bodypart you are killing 2x a week?

I split it up more than that and do multiple bodyparts. I have been going 6 times a week lately with the idea that the extra day is a pump day for my weaker bodyparts I want to bring up - I try to make it so that things are spaced out enough that I have at least 2 days between training bodyparts, though usually it's more like 3-4.

I can post up my split tomorrow if you want - it's easier if I can just copy it but I left it at work.

Damn you and your success!! :P Good luck with it though! I'm sure I won't be alone in asking for your routine up until this point if you've got a link to a journal?

Take a look at Westside. It's predicated around working your weaknesses as a priority over your strengths and has a good 72 hours between muscle groups.

My split:

Day 1: bi's/quads/forearms

Day 2: tri's/calves/traps

Day 3: hams/shoulders

Day 4: off

Day 5: chest (incline press first)/bi's(pump)

Day 6: hams (pump)/wide back

Day 7: deadlifts (and another exercise for upper back thickness)/shoulders (pump)/tri's (pump)

I have been doing something like the above lately. It is a simple thing to take one of the lighter days and integrate into a couple of the others days and make it a 5 day/week routine. I tend to do 10-11 sets of quads and hams in a single workout (3 exercises for each), 8 sets for back width (2-3 exercises), 8 sets for back thickness (2-3 exercises), 12-14 sets for chest (3-4 exercises), 10 sets for shoulders (3 exercises), 9 sets for bi's and tri's (3 exercises), and 6-7 sets for both calves and forearms (2 exercises for each).

And then, on pump days, I pick 1-2 exercises for each bodyprat and go light for 4-6 sets to get blood in there. It's complicated but has been balancing my physique out rather well. I highly recommend something like this for trying to improve symmetry.

Glad you've had success with it, but I could never grow on lifting 6 days/week.

I was adding 2-4 reps on my major lifts each week. It was working I'd say. I cut back on calories and feel much less bloated and full after only a couple days.

I think this sort of routine is alright so long as you keep it brief - I only did it for 5 weeks after taking some time off, and now I am getting lazy for a week or two to let myself recover.

you change your dosages or any other factors?

Yes. This is indeed a big part of it. I was just suprised at how fast I was gaining in everything and did not care for the bloated look. It was mostly bloat though I am now realizing. I weighed in this morning at 209 so I was much happier with that since I haven't put on much bf and I think I could pretty easily be ready for my next show within 5-7 weeks or so. I want to come in at around 195, though will probably end up being a few pounds short if I get a little leaner than I was last time, which I hope to do.
