No big deal but it's frustrating, here goes.

My wife hurt her shoulder at work and she's pregnant. It's been over a month since the injury happened and they're very slow in responding with care. She FINALLY SAW a specialist this week! After a month! They think she has a tear in her shoulder, she's been unable to sleep almost every single night and she can't take pain meds or get an MRI (doc advised against it until 12 weeks).

THEN.... 2 days before her specialist visit, she was doing something (not sex) and her arm POPPED really loud. All of a sudden it started feeling better (relatively speaking of course) it still hurts but is able to be moved now in a small range of motion. So it was just pooped out of the shoulder socket FOR A FREAKING MONTH! omg...

Anyway, that's it. Killah's Insurance thread made me want to rant about this.

She's still doing "light duty" at work. No one on one patient care. The specialist wants her to get an ultrasound on the shoulder, not an MRI and to start therapy. Freaking over a month ater? and They have'nt even told her where the therapy will be yet. It's gonna be at least 2 months before it starts. wtf? How much slower can this process take?

How long can you last with a dislocated shoulder? lol and be pregnant?

and have sex with me?

thanks for listening.

My X-rays show that I suffered a 10mm separation in my right shoulder. Past year or so it has hurt on and off with the pain getting worse each time around. Thing is I don't remember separating it. Hell I don't remember suffering a blow to the shoulder, that would be capable of that damage, in the past 3-4 years. So you can go pretty long on a separated shoulder. I do remember when the pain was too much I would jam the arm up, but don't remember when the hell I started that. It's a rather common act now for me when it gets too much to bear.

Physical Therapy is a fucking joke. I went for two months. They shit they make you do you can do yourself. Just buy the elastic resistance bands. I'm about to go to sleep, but I can post tomorrow the "program" they put me on for the arm when I find it. It helped a little, but if there is a tear it won't do much good.

Have your wife go to the dr anyway. The MRI will show possible labrum, tendon, ligament, muscle damage. Where as my dumbass toughed it out and am facing either surgery or a different not so desirable outcome.

"My X-rays show that I suffered a 10mm separation in my right shoulder."

What kind of X-rays were they?

I went through six months of therapy and several cortisone shots on my shoulder before they finally did surgery. The first doctor they sent me too said it was a strain, tendonitis, or an impengment, depending on the day and how he was feeling that day. He gave me the shots and months of therapy, after which he said that I would just have to learn to deal with it.

After raising holy hell in the front office at work they sent me to another doctor of my choosing who gave me one cortisone shot, and told me if it wasn't better in 30 days he would go in and see if anything was torn. It didn't get better so he operated and found that my bicep tendon was torn completely away from my shoulder, and my labrum was shredded, none of which showed up on the MRI.

Worker's comp will do anything to keep from having to do surgery in order to save themselves money, not help you.

holy shit! This could'nt have happend at a worse time. She got pregnant at the same exact time of the injury. If this takes months, whicxh it looks like it will, it can't be good.

We ARE very happy about the decreased pain though. She's able to sleep at night now. That (dislocation) had to be the cause of it.

Did he just go in and look for a tear, or run more tests?

GL: Regular run of the mill x-rays. I had to wear a led vest so I doubt it would be healthy for your wife, and child.

The first doctor ordered the mri, and it didn't show any damage. They said later that it might not have shown anything because it was a closed mri, and my shoulders are very wide so they were kind of rolled up when I was in there.

My second doctor went in arthoscopically thinking that there might be a tear in my rotator cuff when he found the real problem.
