I hate training calves

I've read on Muscle Media that you either born with big calves or you aint. But as hard as you work them, you'll never get them bigger.

From my personal experience calves are largely genetic (I was blessed with "obscenely huge calves", at least in comparison to the rest of my body) but as my training partner has experienced, you CAN make them grow with lots of effort.

I know your kind ya bastad!!!! Like God dropped a couple of grapefruits in there sometime after puberty. Unfair I say!!!
 
Maybe it is the size of my thighs that make them look small..yeah...that's it. They are 18"...but I'm gonna tell myself it is because my quads and hams just over power them:)

Ok, I have already posted this as a new thread, but seeing as this one also pertains..

I have a problem with my calves like the person who started this thread. Anyone know any good exercises/routines that will really blast 'em?
 
If I trained them...they would grow. I just hate training them.

I TRY TO WALK ALOT ON MY TOES (LIKE AT WORK OR AT HOME)
THEN I TRIAN MY CALVES ONCE A WEEK FOR ABOUT AN HOUR SOLID...I HAVE SEEN SOME PRETTY NOTICIBLE GAINS...BUT THEN AGAIN I DO BELIEVE THAT GOOD CALVES HAVE TO DO WITH GENETICS.

Come on B Fold...if I can train calves I know you can train them. You wouldn't want me to out do you......would you? :) Just kidding...you look great....if my calves were that lean I would be happy. Lady

Speaking of walking on toes, did anyone ever try those elevated toe shoes for training? you know, the one Kramer wears in a Seinfeld episode when he is mistaken for a "slow" person? They actually do put a lot of tension on the calf, but nothing you would hafta buy $70 special shoes for, walking on the toes could be equivalent......just make sure nobody's watching :)
 
Ok...so I do have veins in them, front and back...but...I remember training calves with ladyluck a few years back and she punked me out. She was not stronger..but could do the reps much much easier than I could.

My calves are still bigger though...must be those 17 shoes.

training calves is boring liketraing abs,.....it's something when you see people with the huge diamond calves and have never tained.....don't you just hate em'.....:mad:
 
Mine are 17 with little definition, I hate them. They don't do anything at all. They can be worked to death and show no signs of growth.
 
Who needs calves, they serve no purpose imo unless your a sprinter or something!!
Ok maybe not, I'm just being bitter cause i have no calves..
I hate training calves!!!
