I Hate My Cheat Days!!!

There is no proof that deep ketosis is any better than trace ketosis. If you show trace signs then you are in full blown ketosis and that's all that matters. However as most people begin to realize you don't have to be in full blown ketosis to burn fat, just limiting carbs in general is enough. Mario DePasquale(sp?), the author of the Anabolic Diet which was one of the first well known high fat/low carb diet books actually advocates NOT being in ketosis. He says for the anabolic diet to be most effective you must be low carbing, but not enough to be in ketosis, just slightly above.

If you for some ungodly reason hate cheat days then do as others have mentioned and just get more carbs on workout days. If you take in dextrose post workout then most likely you won't be kicked out of ketosis as it is. Just stay away from fructose as that goes straight to liver glycogen.

This a first. I have never ever heard of someone complaining about their cheat day. Maybe your not dieting down hard enough or maybe your training is lacking but i look forward to my cheat meal. This past weekend i killed off 4 big macs, 1 supersize order of fries and a large soda. And i loved every minute and bite of that meal.:D

While I agree that carb-up days are crucial for refilling glycogen stores, I believe that they are most paramount in elevating leptin levels.

Understanding the physiology of Leptin has trul changed my life! I can stain lean year around, while at the same time adding lean muscle (yes, very slowly).

When you go on a ketogenic for 6-10 days straight, depending on how lean you are right now, you're leptin levels will be at extremly low levels. Carbing up 1 out of 7 days will not be enough. Since Leptin levels are influenced by glucose metabolism, I would suggest a refeed day every 2-3 for up to 24 hours (once again depending on how lean you are).

Signs of low leptin levels:
Fatigue
Extrem Hunger
"Brain-Fog"
Plateaued Weight Loss

Anyway, I am simply an apostle. If you want to hear the gospel truth from the source read Par Deus's articles at www.avantlabs.com

When I am on a diet, cheat day is my favorite day of the week. I always have one. Keeps me from going to the phsychiatric ward.-WULF
