well several months ago i had a laser treatment to get rid of a few acne scars and a few ingorwn hairs pit marks on my chest. did the treatments (they were expensive as hell too )

i guess was a good plastic surgeon dermotoglist ... well after the treatments the area of the laser treatment scared the shit out of my chest.(i was told to wait a few months to see how they look)

the minor scars became full time raised keloid scars :(

havent heeled at all and i looks like i have some foever scaring on my chest:(

these scars have caused alot of pain and suffereing and imbaresment as well.

i set up an appoitment to see this same dermotiligist again on the 4th

the thing is i spend so much time on my body and now looks like i have some serious rasied scars on my chest :(
i would have been better off just no laser treatment and let them heel on there own. the laser did more harm then good.. i hope he some plastic suregeon can fix it :(

good luck man, over time most scars diminish or at least become less noticeable. MAybe try going to a different dermatologist, this one sounds kinda shitty

good thing it was on your chest and not your face. what are keloid scars?

chances are your scars look worse to you than they would to other people. we are our own worst critics. they will probably fade over time anyhow.

you may want to ask the dermatologist about scar revision. this is when they literally cut the scar off and sew they unscarred skin together. do not get all worried about this tiger, i am sure this can be improved. maybe you should get a second opinion.

keloid scar is a raised scar

scars could be either hypertrophic or keloid . might be able to rule on their exact classfication. Both are caused by an «over scaring» reaction of your body with proportion to the injury/lesion (i.e. your body is creating more scar tissue than it neded to close the wound). The difference is with proportion. Keloids are more severe as they usually extend out of the bounderies of the initial lesions as hypertrophic scar usually don't. The line in classification can be really fine between a severe hypertrophic and a mild keloid

i am been reading up...basically i think he or another derm will do a series of cortisone injections in to the raised scar to flatin it out then over time and possible dermabrasion finish it off..

there is a plastic surgeon who posts on here, he has a link to his website on the sticky on this board :)

thanks alot

ill look at that site.. by chance do u know if he still posts here??

steroid injections are good cuz they usually give immediate results. they hurt like hell tho. they will flatten out the scar to a great extent. when you had the surgery, di the doc recommend rubbing the scar a few times a day with vitamin e? mine did and i believe that also helps flatten the scar. i hope it works out for you.

ya they do hurt. plus going right into a basically open wound too

the doc told me to use silcone sheets between the laser treatment .. i wish i would tried vit E on the area ....

no idea....check for his last post or if he had an email addy...he never posted all that frequently if i remember

ask your doctor about emu oil and ask if he thinks its useful. I think it has been shown to break down scar tissue, but its worth running by him as I'm not a Dr and Im recalling this from a very hazy and frequently patchy memory :D

well finally got to go see him

tooook forever to finally see him and he was on vacation for 3 weeks
I was so nervous and shit ( i hate doc office)

well he acted all shocked etc and explained how the comestic procedure (laser) didnt cause it...
didnt want to argue with him or flip out. since the shit has already happend.. just fix the flat tire and move on

then he injected it with some cortisone (didnt hurt)
he described the scar not as a keloid and not as a hypertropic scar.. some other form of scar that ive never heard of ( i did ALOT of reading on this too)

well he gave me some stuff called (second skin) apply these 2 times a day(like a silicon sheeting )
and a few more cortisone injections..

well hope it heels :(

in the end.. BE CAREFUL befor ever getting your chest waxed and if u do get ingrown hairs, DONT POP OR pick them to the point where they become inflammed/infected :(

i am going to get some EMU oil and apply it to the areA..

i hope the area is better by spring time ( summer comes in march where i live ) so i hope so :(

AND comestic procedures can and do wrong
(even very simple ones like the one i had)
