I got fired

Not for gear.

A woman complained. That is all they will tell me. Very large, hi profile, worldwide company.

My wife works there. They are sort of harassing her now (she feels so).

I am looking for a reason why. What should I do?

what kind of job is it? you have no idea why someone might have complained? sounds like bullshit why they fired you.

fiesta_bhoy, how can anybody give advice on a situation they know nothing about - except very generally, as you did. If the dismissal was unwarrranted then, yes, maybe there's some recourse. But who's to say based on so little information. He's gonna have to find out who's really behind it and what the real situation is, and I doubt that's possible here.

Good luck though, Singleton. I've been in a similar situation, although I resigned just before I was fired or reprimanded because the situation was total bullshit. Still didn't turn out very well for me, but it was just the principle in my case.

At least you can still draw unemployment if necessary (I think). I didn't leave myself that option.

Find a new job.
 
most states are At Will. usually it states somewhere that you can be fired for a good reason or no reason at all. Unless you are discriminated against and can show proof, you have very little to go on. Basically, time to find a new job.
 
What industry is the job in? What relation is the accusor to you? I'm not a legal expert at all -but perhaps some of this information would help someone in a legal position?

Singelton, some states are "Right to work" states, and some are not. That means they can fire you for anything, literally. If they think your bodybuilding interferes with your job, then they can straight out fire you. Or if this lady says you looked at her tits, they can fire you.

Gotta be careful of women in the workplace man, Ive had a lot of friend lose jobs because some bitch has an agenda against men.

Id probley take it personal, have you considered takeing some legal action?

Read my post, they can in some states.

Singelton, do some research and find out what your state laws are about firing people. If its wrongful, listen to needtogetgas. Sue em for as much as you can get.
 
Lee is 100% right on. At will states - most are - the employer and the employee both have the option of ending the employment agreement at any time. If it was discrimination or something, contact the EEOC, but that doesn't sound like what it was.

If you want to find out more, possibly request a copy of your personnel file.
 
Well, I still don't know who said what. I still want to find out.

Personell file was refused. They won't talk.

Company may have jumped the gun; there doesn't seem to be any investigation; they seem to have made a decision on hearsay. It is a very large, high-profile company.

Lawyers - can't find a good one. Most want simple open-shut, ambulence chase or discrimination case. They don't care about this. Poor ROI, I guess.

No problem finding a job. I've turned down a lot recently.

I believe that it is based on bullshit. They won't say anything more than "a woman complained." It's obvious who did it; can't prove anything at this point.

It seems to be hurting my career. e.g. "No, he's not eligible for rehire," and "between you and me, there was a problem about a woman and it went to our legal department."

UI doesn't come close to 11k/mo. However, I did file just so that they will inquire my former employer.

It bothers me that a woman -- or anyone -- could have this type of power.

Money is not as important as having control over my life or being respected for what I do (not judget by lies people make up).

My goal is to find out who said what. The information is somewhere and I'm open to creative ideas (PM).

Not sure if you noticed but women have all the power. Theres 2 words they can say to ruin a mans life, "rape" and "harass." Even when a complete lie, theres never any recovering from it.
 
look at the duke lacross players. They will have that over thier heads foreva

No HR person is going to say that, or anything like that. It would pwn the company in court if they did and they know it.
 
The company wouldn't say that, no.

They can legally and officially say "not eligible for rehire." w/o providing a reason.

As far as people talking to each other, well, friends will say things off the record.

And I still didn't get my last check. Yes, I can and will file a wage claim, but what a waste. The whole thing is just so rediculous. Do people grow up before they die? Or maybe they should just die...
