I got a question about beating inanimate objects:

Every since I can remember, punching holes in walls as a kid, punching frozen french fry boxes at burger king, etc. someones always telling me it's bad to hit inanimate objects. Why is it bad? So what did this teach me? Now I currently look for animate objects and just beat the fuck out of them when the time arises. Thanks for the help!
