We no longer live together. I'm not going into details. Things got very ugly. Some people just need help and unless they own up to that, they will never get better.. Women are the last thing on my mind now believe it or not. I just want to hang out with my family. I had a great time tonight at my parent's and brother's. I spent the night at their house the last 2 nights and slept like a baby. I'm back home now. It's empty here, but I'll be alright.

Im glad it happened now instead of later when you had built a life with her.... Remember things happen for a reason ... its not your fault ...... It will take some time however in a couple of months you will be ready to date and see other women.... Just use the time to renew old friendships, find yourself etc: best of luck to you

You're a good EF bro in my book but the "everything happens for a reason" conciliatory statement doesn't really help. The "signs" were all there and we all know it, he made a mistake and he just needs to learn from the mistake he made and not repeat it.That's my .02....

Live and learn and I have. I thought I could help her to want to change, but I could not. Alcoholism is a terrible thing. I don't want to run her down here... She needs help and until she gets it, her life will continue to spiral out of control..

You can't help someone that doesn't want help; If she's lucky then she'll "hit bottom." Otherwise, she may very likely die from her disease and there is/was nothing you could do to "make her change."
