I Don't Have It

I just don't have the genetic makeup to be freaky big. Never did. Never will. Never really wanted to. At 5'11"195 pounds, I would be considered skinny but most guys on anabolic message boards.

But something struck me today...

One of the first inspirations to begin bodybuilding began when I saw an ad in a comic book that said: DONT DREAM ABOUT IT...HAVE A BODY MEN ADMIRE AND WOMEN DESIRE! That sounded good to me! Lol It's so cheesy. But then I realized something...

Here I am at 60 years old. I'm in Miami now and get to walk on the beach in the sunshine. I get women checking me out.( my last three girlfriends were younger than my son). Guys come up to me ( not gay) and say stuff like DUDE, youre buffed, youre ripped, how much do you work out?! I had a bunch of tourists want to take a picture with me. I guess I represented the carefree south beach lifestyle! Lol

Anyway, the point is...I guess I really did live the dream. Bodybuilding gave me all I ever wanted and its done so for over 40 years. And sure, steroids helped. But that's the operative word...they HELPED. If it was about doing more gear I guess I could have been a bigger freak. And that may impress the guys in the squat rack. But I'll take my modest accomplishments.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

You deff got that right. Most women with deff prefer a body type like yours compared to those huge mass monsters. Most women find that gross.

Great work over the years Nelson, to stay in the shape you are in. Kudos.

I would like to be a mass monster just to see what it's like for a little while.. but I can see what your saying..

hell even Jay cutler doesn't want to be that size and it's the reason he's slimming down

Nelson, you have an amazing body and aesthetics that I can only hope to accomplish in my lifetime.

I bought into, and am completely sold on 3 things I've learned from you.
Number 1, slow and steady keepable gains. I don't want to see 25lbs on a cycle to lose 10 after PCT. I want 7lbs gained and kept.
Number 2, short cycles (10 weeks and under), reasonable dosages, and 1 or 2 compounds.
Number 3, natural PCT products like Unleashed and Post Cycle (No, I am not a rep. I spend my hard earned money like everyone else, and swear by these, as I respond so well to them.). Because of you, I'm a firm believer in not PCTing multiple drugs with more drugs.

Thank you for all the help and inspiration you've given me personally, as well as all you do for this community. While some people may not like your brutally honest, straightforward answers, you tell it like it needs to be told!

Thanks bro, that's always great to hear.

I am the same way Nelson, I am 6,2 and cannot get past 225 for the life of me however I am lean and cut.. And you are correct, women prefer this look as opposed to the big and brawny.

Lived the dream? Sounds to me like you're still living it brother. Lots of dudes don't have the genetic make up to be huge. Myself included. I'm 185 at 5'11 and I'm even surprised to be that size considering about 4 yrs ago I was 138 lol. Aesthetics and proportion over sheer size any day.

Dude if that is your picture, I would love to look like that, but my body structure is just too wide. Big shoulders, big calves, big legs. I gain mass easily, but loss fat difficultly. In simple terms, a person's leanness comes down to how efficiently the body uses insulin, but obviously there is more to it than just that, but that definitely plays a large part...

Yeah, that's my pic from a show I did in the spring after a 6 week cycle...the first one in years. Never got over 700 mgs a week total.

I agree leaness is a genetic luck of the draw as much as size, but maintaining that after 40 , no less 50 and beyond, is still a challenge. Insulin is a part of it but so is skeletal structure. And id kill for bigger calves,so I consider YOU the lucky one! Lol. The grass is always greener...

Man I wish I looked like you right now! For my next cycle I want to get down to 200 lbs lean. I'm only 5,11 and. I don't have the desire to be a mass monster. Lean looks better so if you have any suggestions for me please let me know. I will try some GW 50 to help me lose some bodyfat on my next cycle. I can do it because at one time I weighed a sloppy 249.5 lb and got down to 207 lbs.
