long story short, i have 2 herniated discs in my thoracic spine (central section of the spine.). this is a very rare condition, for anyone that doesn't know about herniated discs.
had a doctors appointment today, Pain Management clinic. they make assessments of what treatment should be done, typically they go with a steroid injection into the spine at the affected area. i had this procedure done last febuary and it went horribly. something went wrong, and i was in increased pain for 2 months. i was supposed to be feeling better after 10 days. after 2 months, my pain level was back to where it was before the injection. this is just a real aggrivating condition and hinders me in a lot of things, but when i started lifting 3 months ago, i discovered that the controlled movements in the gym were not painful at all, and any that were i immediately dropped from my routine. very strange....i can go into the gym and lift hard and heavy, but doing everyday things can be painful (ie - chasing after my 3 yr old). so....
doctor decides today he doesn't have enough information to proceed, so we're holding off. i get to start 5x5 on monday now! prolly won't see that doc again for at least a month, and in the meantime, they want to send me for more MRIs to see if i've gotten worse or not.
this is just an early xmas for me
last xmas was when we got my thoracic MRI results and i got the bad news (a year and a half after the origonal injury, took that much fighting with the docs to get that far). so anyway, it's great news and i'm stoked now. so on saturday i get to make the 3 hour trek down to my dad's and get the weight bench. going to be better for me to lift for the next 4 weeks at home then trying to trek all the way down to the college campus, which is going to be closed for 2 weeks during xmas break anyway.
*whew* relief
