Look at what I found on rotten.com. Thought it was funny. Here's the excerpt that came with it:
This is a color xerox of a page from a Catholic picture book. My friend P.PAN sent it to me. Here's the cogent part of his accompanying letter:

Yes! Bad karma already :) Although I don't know why I should get bad karma for a picture that was in a Prayer book. I didn't make the damn thing...

I'd just like to know how the hell the publishing company that printed out those prayer books see that? There's more than one way to look at things, but the first thing I thought of before I read the caption was that the big J man was getting a hummer...
 
Not commenting on whether that's offensive or not, but as for the moment, I just have to say that those bad catholic priests and youth leaders that are being excused and the assholes who covered up make me want to THROW MY FUCKING TV OUT THE WINDOW AND GO FLIP SOME CARS. What a bunch of assholes.

I hate the little niceties and pc-ness that everybody seems to be treating it with...all the articles about "understanding how this could happen" in time and newsweek and whatnot. I'm an atheist, I respect religion, but this shit makes me want to live in a cave and hunt my own food.

The picture is macabre and ironic. Doesn't piss me off though. Know why? Because it didn't reach out and hurt anybody.

Glad to see somebody else feels the same way NA. I've never been pro-death penalty until this shit came out...then I think that death by my fist-in-their-face is the only option. I saw some interviews with people who go to that boston church, and they were so quick to "forgive". NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have people become so soft on this until it has to do with a popular religion. Forgive and Forget, wasn't that what the church did FOR YEARS, wasn't that the problem? I can't believe they haven't strung that cardinal up by his ankles Mussolini style yet...

They need the Boondock Saints to take care of this one. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I love you.
 
there was a very local church *the one my family attends actually* where the assistant priest was questioned under suspicion of it, my youngest brother goes there for sunday school....if that fuck even looked at my brother wrong i will break every bone in his body, i plan on going to the church this coming sunday *first time in YEARS, though i do not plan on staying* just to get this point across to him.

I'm out of karma or I'd give you double good! It is simply amazing how long the abuse went on and was both hidden and accepted by the sheeple of the church. You know it is always said to children to stay away from the darkside but in the Church of Satan the children are relished and encouraged to be their best and to seek out the truth. Meanwhile "god" fearing parents send their kids to molestation at the hands of the church. The children are told not to question anything so they accept the abuse and have to bear the burden for years! Don't get me started.

It seems as though people are judging Jesus in this picture as if he is the man in the Catholic Church that is molesting young boys.

I wouldn't want to associate with a god who would not respect my individual mind. if not believing in him means I cannot go to his kingdom, then he can fuck off.

I would hope that god could see the irony and sardonic humor in this picture. if he can't, then he lacks humility. if he lacks humility then he is not perfect (at least by the consensus human standard).

Why shouldn't beliefs be challenged? I like to know what makes people tick. Asking people why they believe in what they do interests me. Usually I get the usual "I don't know why, but I just know", or "how was all this made then" answer though. Which usually leaves me feeling shorted. Posting a picture like this is not knocking anything. It's just depicting a, how should I say it, editorial error.

Going to Italy to talk trash on religion shouldn't be any different than talking trash in America. I thought those who lived a Christian life modeled their lives after God. Having someone resort to violence because they say something you don't agree with is very "ungodlike", wouldn't you agree. It may even be considered a sin. God sure would be proud of them don't you think? I've had plenty of people ask me if I'm religious. I answer honestly all the time. And I've never had any problems. Just people who wish to save me from some place they're not even sure exists...

If somebody tells me I'm going straight to (their) hell because I don't believe in God, the worst fate possible, I think that's pretty disrespectful. That is, assuming exactly what (their) God wants, and disregarding all of the good things I've done because of one thing I believe. And then to say that some repentent child molester is better than me for the reason that "God forgave his sins" just makes me want to puke. Very, very disrespectful.

So let's say there is a heaven. And that God does forgive the sins of murderers and let them into heaven. You're telling me that if someone in my family gets murdered, their murderer may be right next to the person they killed in heaven? That sounds fucked up to me. I sure as hell wouldn't want to spend an eternity with a shitbag that cut my life on earth short. One of the many reasons I don't believe in God I guess. It's all too illogical...

Well for one thing, god will know whether or not you are true to your word when you ask for forgiveness. As far as you running into somebody in heaven who killed somebody in your family, if i were you id be more worried about who I would be running into in hell, after that picture you posted.
