I can't get sound to come out of the speakers while watching TV. WTF....
The TV is a JVC 42 EX-18...and the home theater system is also JVC...TH-D50.

Everything seems to be hooked up properly...sound comes out of the speakers when I plug in my I-POD...

Am I missing something here.....

I have RCA's hooked up to the output of the TV going to the reciever.

K to whoever can help me fix this shit.

Post a pictures of the back of your tv.
Is it a rear projection tv? plasma? lcd?
what kind of terminals does it have? BCN? HDMI? Mini D-sub 15 pin? 9-pin?
What kind of speakers do you have and what terminal are you using for input?

It's a JVC 42 EX-18.....LCD...I have my computer hooked up to the 15 pin...360 hooked up to the Video input 1.....it has RCA output, and that's where I have my RCA's going to the recievers input....They both have HDMI but I'm not using them. Would hooking up an HDMI cord to them work?

Do you always want the reciever/surround sound on when you're watching TV? Sometimes watching regular TV, not movies, like the news, is OK for people with the TV speakers only. Then you can shut the power hungry receiver off.

Yes, you should use the hdmi cables first if you have that opportunity. Then the component cables comes in a close second, then S-video etc... You should also use a digital audio cable for sound. Wether it's an optical or coaxial cable, it doesn't really matter. you don't have many choices with these HTiB receivers, so whatever is there, use it. Not the 'red/white' cables.

Go from your cable box directly to the TV with an hdmi cable. This way you'll get sound and video with the receiver off. Then go from the receiver to the TV with the digital audio cable and another hdmi cable to the TV from the receiver. I think that's all you need, unless I'm missing something.
