Some new CD's I bought.

Nickelback-awesome. Most songs rocked.
Incubus-New album blows. This album is just so drab.
 
lol i saw nickelback open for big wreck at a bar in my hometown... we were laughing at them (they were relative unknowns then) because they prefaced every song with, "does anyone do (insert various drug names?)"... "we wrote this song while on (insert various drug names here)"

they sounded like dipshits.

anywho, i bought two cd's today too... a friend got me hooked on dandy warhols and i bought the last two albums by them... they rule!

Weird taste in music, sister. First it was some freaks called AIR and now this! Whatever happened to N'sync and Brittney?
 
Not exactly new, but one of the best cd's I've bought in a while was Skrape. Album is called New Killer America. Only one track I don't listen to. The rest slams. I guess you could call it metal, I don't know the exact classification. They have sound of their own. Can't compare em to anyone else I listen to. CHeck it out.

i haven't bought a cd in 3 years. thank god for cd burners.
soon i won't even buy software anymore. just steal it off the net.

buuuuut, hybrid theory by linkin park & beautiful garbage by garbage are good newer alternative rock cds.

how could you not respect tool? They are such an awesome band. Maynard has the best vocals in the industry...Adam Jones...come on, he's simply amazing. They are not only fantastic musicians, but they are actual artists. Tool doesn't really give a fuck what is 'in' they do what they want. Even when they signed their contract, they took a HUGE cute in pay, so they could do what they want on their albums, like having non-radio friendly 15 minute songs. They also dont have to put out a cd every fucking year, or have shitloads of singles, bootlegs, imports, etc. etc. to take an extra dime from their fans *cough* radiohead *cough* pearl jam *cough* And wannabe satanics? I guess you meant satanists. No where do they claim to be satanists, or worship satan, kill people, etc. etc. Maybe some of their lyrics about not being a big fan of religion might make you think that, but i would classify them as atheistic or something besides satanic if i was to classify them at all. And how does he try too hard? trying too hard is being fred durst and appearing in any tv/radio/movie/magazine possible. trying too hard is jonathan davis wearing fur coats and trying to be even more 'alternative' Tool does VERY limited amounts of press, the only reason they have done more press this year is because of their new album Lateralus which dropped 5 years after their previous one.
Maybe you think they try 'too hard' to entertain at their shows...but thats what a show is for, to entertain.

Hey guys... there is no need to call names over bands. Think about it. It just does not make sense.

TOOL... there is alot of good things to be said about this band. They do stay out of the media spotlight and that is a great part of the persona. I like some of their music... but do not agree with the politics. They also ripped the sound off of Quicksand. If you ever get a chance to pick up either Quicksand : Slip... or Manic Compression... do it. You will be pleased. It does not sound like TOOL.. but you can see where the influence came from.


Radiohead... they make music completley diffrent than TOOL. Most TOOL fans are not big fans of Radiohead. I think The Bends is a great cd to add to any collection. Radiohead ripped their sound off from Swervedriver... if you like Radiohead... do yourself a BIG favor and go buy either Raise or Mezcal Head from Swervedriver.

You guys will both thank me later.

Well well well, now I am beginning to learn the extent of your sheer stupidity. You assume that I follow mainstream like a sheep. First of all, shit is mainstream because it is good. I've been listening to Nickelback before they hit the charts. Since I had a few songs on MP3, I bit the bullet and bought the CD. A lot of the songs are good so I thought I'd mention it as a light topic to bullshit about. I like shit no matter what it's label is.

I never said Radiohead sucked cuz it's not mainstream. It's soft and I don't like their sound. I only mentioned Tool cuz someone else did. I'm always looking for non-mainstream shit since I leave in the NYC area and I get to often find a lot of up and coming bands. I didn't start this thread to win a popularity contest.

You, my friend, are a steaming pile of horse shit. It pains me to stoop to your level but you really have come looking for a fight. Don't worry, I'll be happy to show you what a tough guy I am, in real life.

MTV is the devil, straight up. That fucking station will ruin any good band for their true fans. We have motherfuckers like Carson Daly up on stage beating his dick to how good a certain song is. Shit, once a good band is on TRL, it's all over. Every dumb motherfucker who cant appreciate music will go out and buy the cd cause that 'hottie' (kill me) says to go buy it. Look what they did to good bands like the smashing pumpkins when Millencollie and the Infinite Sadness came out, Rage against the machine when evil empire came out. They turn any respectable band into another corporate sellout, ie korn and limp bizkit. God dammit, I hate MTV, thank god they didnt get to tool yet. I know 'Schism' is the latest tool video on mtv, but it doesnt get much play. thank god
