If anyone knows someone or who/where i could find a serious professional personal trainer for myself , pls PM or email me...

location: scottsdale/phoenix, AZ....

thanks...

My coach charged me $70 for a session & he worked & talked with me for well over 2 hours - BUT, he's a fitness nut like I am & does it more for the love of it than the money - he has a f/t job totally unrelated to fitness.

Additionally, he wants to promote the sport of olympic lifting & that is more important to him that making money. So I think that fee is somewhat cheap for his caliber.

I don't pay anything now that I'm a team member - I train with him & other team members (not that many people) & he's setting up a program & helping my form - watching me as we're working, but I'm not paying anything. Since the team itself is a non-profit organization, he can't charge the members for working out at his center, even though I think he owns the center himself (or pays rent on the property out of his own pocket). Non-team members who want to come train there (like my current training partner) pay $5 per workout - & he still helps them out. What a guy!

Not sure if I could really justify paying someone to train me...not for more than a seminar or something of that sort....

Especially not when you get help for free....

:lmao:

Yeah, find a training partner or a team. If you know too much, you end up paying for a glorified perosnal spotter.

Or paying for an injury.....no, not bitter at all...

I agree that you can learn a lot without paying a trainer, BUT, I wouldn't want to try learning OL without someone really showing me & watching me.

I really lucked out with my situation. I'm so glad I found my coach & I don't have to pay to train with him. He is not only knowledgable & experienced, he is a fun guy to work with.

He could just as easily have been a lying prick. I definitely am fortunate.

Exactly what don’t you know that you would need a trainer for 3V? Stay off the sex boards and stay here and you will learn more … j/k

If they weren’t so expensive, I’d pay for a trainer in a heartbeat to be honest, not because I NEED one but I do need someone to push me sometimes other than my training partner…ive known him since high school and he likes to bullshit too much, and we only ever go heavier on exercises if I recommend it, otherwise he wont ever ask to add more weight.

Like NY said,

PROFESSIONAL personal trainers (yes, I am one) can result in a much more effective workout. Professionals have been educated, certified, and pay attention to you the entire session and then some (not look at themselves in the mirror...much (LOL)..., gawk at hot people, take phone calls, or anything else that can take away from your time!

The thing I hate is that trainers don't have to be licensed. Educated or certified in health and fitness or not, ANYONE can put on a "trainer" shirt and make money doing it. It PISSEs me off to no end!

3V, the best certifications are: ASCM, NSCA, and ACE (a distant third). Try to find someone with two of those or a degree in exercise physiology or health/fitness. The organizations I mentioned all have websites if you want to see them.

Good luck!

You saying that they MUST be certified to be good?

Hmmm...most everyone that I would seek advice from is not certified...but they give much better advice.

Not sure...any ideas? I was gonna post your name as well as most all Pro competitors, top powerlifters, and pro bodybuilders. I could care less what letters thaty have next to their name...I want someone who can produce results...PROVEN results.

I don't think my name belongs in that select company. Up to this point all my "knowledge" is just book smarts...I read alot. No field work....other than the gym. We will see what RESULTS that knowledge gets in Dec....on the platform.

If you trust them,

If you trust them, fine, but, many "trainers" that have worked out on their own and haven't taken the time to educate themselves, end up hurting themselves and worse, their clients! I've been to plenty of gyms, YMCA's, even have seen a trainer who works with professional athletes do things I wouldn't think about doing with a client. The certifications I mentioned are a good baseline for someone that is charging others for their knowledge to have especially when licenses aren't required for trainers but are required for nail techs? Please.

Many of the trainers around here are either certified or just YMCA certified...and they are all pencil necked geeks who don't have a muscle and are weak as can be. It blows me away that people pay them to train them...lol

I think we are on the same page...
