I am getting eaten alive!

Shrebly

Here's the deal folks - in the past 48 hours I have gotten seven - yes seven - spider bites - two on my calves, one on my foot, one on my elbow and on three on my back. I had to go to Urgent care tonight for the ones on my calves - they were huge, red and weeping [oozing a clear goo].

Anyone know why some people get bitten more than others? No one else here is getting attacked - and they were spider bites, not fleas, ticks or mosquitos.

Send help - I can't take much more.

The best advice i can give you is straddle the scanner with no panties on.:fro:

Hummm... that's a great suggestion.... let's see if I can manage that.....

AAAAAAAAH i hate spiders.....:bawling: :bawling: :bawling: (:D)

Maybe you have sweet blood or they think you taste good, my bro has a similar problem when its summer here he becomes a buffet for all kinds of insects.

Anyway it does sound strange..

same thing with me....i was in a barracks...and most people escaped relativkly unscathed, me i had bites all up my legs :(

Oh, god!!! I am deathly afraid of spiders. Are they the little brown house spiders, those bites are itchy. :(

My ex got bitten several times by a spider and we had to take him to urgent care too, he was having trouble breathing. The doctors had to give him adrenaline. :(

I hope you get better.

*big hug*

as I was growing up I got attacked by mosquitos and my dad would be in the same spots and be untouched. he swore it was b/c he had brewer's yeast in his morning shake and I didn't, hence I smelled differently and more attractive to the bugs.

I don't know how true that is, but it would seem to me that it is a smell issue of some sort. pheramones or sweat I don't know.

Must be a smell or pheramone issue because my bro and I can be in the same area and insects don't bother me a bit and just swarm him.

also, another point to it being related to scent - you will have fewer problems if you just got out fo the shower and didn't use perfumed soaps or shampoos.
but if you go for a 10 miles run and then sit around getting smelly, you will get bit a whole whole lot.
speaking form personal experience.

They actually just proved that it's genetic. Some people have a higher likeliness of being bit by insects due to blood type and some kind of gene but I can't think of it right now

damn.....i thought this was a sex thread. damn me for thinking that. most women wouldnt complain when being "eaten alive". LOL. hee hee. im bored, so sue me.

find an insect reppellant with a high DEET content!

(memories of the cam stick i used with insect reppelant included, and how when even isued with extra reppelant the midges that bite up north seem to enjoy it even more than blood :( )

feckin cam stick

uh... do you sleep outside?
How do you get bitten so many times?

No, I don't sleep outside. Kneepads sleeps in the same bed as me and he has never ben bitten. Also, my kiddo never gets bitten either.

Do you use a paticular brand of skin cream or lotion? Aroma is what attracts "critters" in general.

I used to get bitten far more than the other kids when I went to camp as a youngster. I was told it is due to blood type. Insects are attracted to a certain type more. Not sure but I think I am A+ or A

No, I have all the Bath & Body Works stuff but never use it in the summer. I use Aussie shampoo and conditioner and Lever 2000 bar soap.

I even bumped up my garlic intake and I am still getting tagged by these bastards. [fresh garlic] One more on my calf, two more on my elbow and another on my back.

U 2 need to take your bed apart then and find their nest. For real, that many bites on one person is indicative of a nesting area. Spiders don't like to travel far either.

Did that already. Moved all the furniture away from the walls, ran the shop vac and sprayed Ortho all over the place - still got tagged three more times.

I wonder if I need to call in the professionals and have the place bombed. It might sound silly or childish but these things are killing me!

What type of spiders are they?

Haven't a clue, ruled out black wodow and brown recluse - no deep joint pain, nausea or feeling faint.

Also ruled out ticks, fleas, mosquitos and fire ants.

Might be in the mattress then.... Did you guys look it over?

No, guess that will have to be the next plan of attack - but with the number of bites on my I can't understand why Kneepads hasn't gotten hit even once. Don't get me wrong - I would rather get hit than have he or the kiddo get one - they are pretty nasty, swell up and itch like crazy. Not to mention the gross junk leaking out of the ones on my calf.

I used to get lots of spider bites and it turns out they were in my mattress. once I got rid of that mattress (via a move to college) then I never had the problem again - well, until I visted my dad again and slept on that fucking mattress.
it wasn't bed bugs, mosquitoes or anything else, def spiders and my dad never did anything about it b/c he said the spiders got rid of the other bugs. fuck that, they bit me the fuckers.

and the stuff oozing out of your leg isn't anything foreign, it is just that the stuff they shoot in there causes inflammation and if I recall correctly your immune system doesn't know what to do and attacks the skin there and so you have a little war going on and the stuff running out is the waste from the war. mostly blood plasma and some white blood cells if 1) I'm remembering it correctly, and 2) the article I read it in was correct in the first place

Anytime ; )

Brown suck -- they are hunters and wander. They run down there prey and bite and wait for there death.

I would strip the bed.......I think you might find you friend.
Sounds like he didn't like you moving around on him.
I would bet one spider did all of that.

Also treat the bites.......Browns can leave terrible scars.

Sounds horrible at least they are not the Brown Recluse spiders like I get in my area. Those things can do serious damage, that is why I get the house sprayed religiously.
