Not necessarily. But cops know that if they arrest someone who actually can afford an attorney, it is going to result in fewer convictions, and more lawsuits against the police.

Also, by going after people who are "better off", cops will worsen their reputation. Such people aer beter educated and know what cops can, and can't, do. Middle and upper class people will actually do things like call legislators and bitch about poor treatment from the pigs. The result is an adverse effect on their budgets and restriction on what they can do.

By going after those without any resources, cops ensure that they perpetuate their authority and budgets, all the while drumming up statistics to validate their existence.

Yeah, but do you honestly see alot of shootings and muggings in suburbia? Hell no man. The majority of violent crimes happen in poor, mostly minority neighborhoods where drugs and violence are sooo much more prevalent. In my parents neighborhood/town, you RARELY here of much crime. The majority of the people caught doing shit are the people from Raleigh, where the majority of crimes happen. Poor neighborhoods always have more crime than rich neighborhoods. The biggest shit that goes down in my parents neighborhood is if one of the neighbor's 3g dog takes a shit on someone elses grass versus in downtown Raleigh where people get shot for something they are wearing.

All that matt said is true besides the fact that he fails to see those areas are where 95% of the crime happens anyway. I personally don't see a cop EVER in my suburb however nothing is stolen or broken into either. The cops are where they are needed down in the low income shitholes of the country.

if i got arrested i wouldn't say 'yup, i did that'. All that would do is give the pigs evidence to use against me.
