HRT/TRT Sourcing Information

Don't feel so bad. My doc said the same thing.

My values from LabCorp were:

Total test: 41 on a scale of 348-1197
Free test: 1.9 on a scale of 6.8-21.5
Estradiol: 11.9 on a scale of 7.6-42.6

Thyroid levels were all low. He thought the same thing, pituitary gland problem but I just haven't had the time to get myself fully checked.

I'm 5'9 about 185 and workout out fairly regularly. Have a six pack that shows if I flex or diet down about 10 pounds. But had zero energy, couldn't sleep and almost zero libido (could be the fact I've been with the same person for 36 years). ;-)

Hi - I'm new to EF but these numbers are almost the same as mine (incl ht + wt). Been to 3 docs over 3 years and they all assumed thyroid but blood work says no each time. So far docs think I'm too young (44) for HRT. Tired of this routine so started taking dianabol oral - 7.5mg ed. Libido and energy levels are coming up nicely, but not liking the (mild) gyno effect. For that, some nolva's in the mail. Looking for others experience before I start taking it...

Thanks - this is a great site

DBol is toxic to the liver so I certainly wouldn't do it long term. I know of people who have been put on TRT/HRT at age 28. Do you have any bloodwork showing you have low testosterone values? You can get a test done your self for about $60-$70 dollars. I would get your bloodwork done and find a doctor that will help you. 44 years old is NOT too young to start TRT/HRT if you need it.

Thanks for your response. And damn, it did not take long to figure out I made a serious error in judgment. You are of course correct about getting another doc. The dangers of dbol can be missed when reading over this and other sites, and all that people ingest for bodybuilding without doctor's orders.

Why not cycles for hrt, with smaller doses? I know doctors don't do this, but they don't normally prescribe aas at all, do they?

Usually HRT/TRT is a life long commitment. Once you are on and your own production of testosterone is shut down for a while, it would be much hard to restart it. Sure docs prescribe AAS, nothing like some of the people on this board take, but enough to try to get you to the high end of normal. Normally an injectable form of testosterone (Test Cyp, Test E) maybe 100-200mg week. They also have test patches, creams, etc. Look for an anti-aging clinic in your area, maybe a sympathetic urologist or endocrinologist. You really, really need to get your bloodwork done so you know where you stand and they are going to make you get your bloodwork done before they'll ever prescribe you anything.

There was one guy who posted about cycling HRT. I don't remember who or the details, but I guess some doctors do have some sort of cycling scheme. I don't know enough about it to comment further.

After more research it seems oral really isn't appropriate for HRT/TRT. What complicates is it's not difficult to find examples of dbol only cycles, like 8 weeks on 3 off. Breakfast of champions they say. As a married guy I'd like 3 weeks on 1 week off, if you know what I mean. But apart from liver issues bulking isn't the point of hrt so dbol still not a good choice.

@tshoot as I mentioned I have had bloodwork and my numbers are similar to what you posted, about 10% greater for total and free. My GP specifically said he didn't want to deal with DEA paperwork/hassles and referred me to a specialist, and specialist says since everything else is normal we should wait and bloodwork again in 6 months. Gives me an Rx for cialis #10 (ten!) It was hard to get the appt and I feel like he blew me off.

Anyway, thanks guys for your replies since they made me do more reading - it's just a little embarrassing since I feel I should've figured dbol better before just trying it, even at a low dose.

Just to update this thread since I responded initially 2 months ago. I have done a lot of research since I found out my test was 214 2 weeks ago. It seems that urologists are a great way to go and their medical assistants can answer a lot of questions over the phone about how they prefer to treat before even before an initial appointment. Honestly, I have always planned on getting on and staying on at 35, but my I was extremely ill recently and ended up in the ER and had everything checked. After speaking with a local urologists medical assistant, I was reassured that he is willing to immediately start on injectable test and would just write the script, let me self inject and work with me on everything else.

Why are doctors the most illogical people on the planet?

Symptoms of low T everywhere and Breeson's doctor checks his thyroid only, and doesn't treat what is staring him in the face, with numbers nipping his ankles?!!!

His knowledge is way, way, off the mark if he thinks 44 is too young to start TRT. I was 32 when put on life-long therapy. This doctor probably turns away 13 year olds with undescended testicles and late puberty too, using the "You are too young for TRT" line. What rubbish. If you need therapy and presenting symptoms and a blood panel support this, he should prescribe therapy with your agreement...full stop. Unless of course there is a contraindication, such as prostatitis, tumour, or prostate cancer.

Please get another MD opinion Breeson. Remind your doctor that low range testosterone total/free are risk factors - increasing with age and non-treatment - for osteoporosis, aretherosclorosis, rheumatism, ostopoeania, diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, ischaemia, cardiovascular disease, obesity, depression, muscle wasting diseases, and a multitude of other conditions.

Regards,
Craig

@breeson, if your are/where anything like mine, you are far, far below normal and you should find another doc. Maybe you can state where you live and one of the good folks here can recommend a doc in your area through a private message.

Have any of you guys with established low T: Breeson and others, had any progress with regard to your treatment?
I'd like to hear of any updates, positive or negative progress.

Craig
