HRT dose for upper range of normal

get456

New member
I saw someone who posted a few weeks ago regarding his HRT dose keeping him at the high range of normal. I believe he said he was on 100mg test per week.

I had a couple questions for those that have some experience (with the bloodwork to back it up)

What dose of HRT will keep an average 200lb person at circa 800 ng/dl total test?

What impact did that have on your LH/FSH/Chol?

I know that this of course would vary from person to person, but some real world examples from peeps around here would be great :)

Unfortunately there is no injectable hrt that will get you around 800ng/dl and keep your levels stable there. There will be a gradual drop from your initial levels whatever the dose you choose. Here are some ballpark figures based on what I've read, until you get some real world opinions:

100mg per week:
start of week - 800ng/dl
end of week - 500ng/dl

200mg per week:
start of week - 1300ng/dl
end of week -800ng/dl

In any case you can with the half life of test e 5 days, it might be better to inject more often if you want to stay at close to 800ng/dl all the time. 100mg every 4-5 days.

I'm on trt using test c (yes from my Dr). I can tell you that my test levels do not fluctuate enough so that I notice (I have had 1 additional test level test but never go the results, SFH and LH were not tested) and I am only on 200mg every 21 days. BUt, I think if my goal was to maintain my test levesl as steady as possible I would ask him to put me on sust instead.

I would guess that you dont notice because it would take several weeks at an abnormal level to really feel what the effect of that low test is...

For instance at 200mg (assuming the PURSUIT's numbers are close to correct which I would guess they are)

day 1-7-1300ng
day 7-14- 800ng
day 14-21- 500ng

so if that is almost right, you never really drop low enough to see the effects of low test since the lowest you go is middle of normal range, hypothetically of course.

Thanks for the replies... Pursuit, I think ur right on that 100mg every 4 days would be a solid HRT dose.... That would keep me just above the normal range, my test shows 250-1100ng/dl as the accepted range...

Actually this is kind of odd... one of my tests shows 250-1100 and the other shows 241-827! strange...

half life of test e is longer than 5 days and some people use prop for HRT,therefore maintaining very stable levels.. for about 2 months I was splitting my HRT dose into 2 injections a week -- I'm sure my levels were pretty stable.

btw, i'm on 200mg/wk HRT

regarding the Cholesterol question.

Prior to starting TRT
LDL = 99
HDL = 47

One month into it Test C @100 mg/week
LDL = 68
HDL = 37

According to HRT specialist Dr. Swale, there's a huge variation in the dosage of testosterone required to bring a hypogonadal male into the normal range (he's more concerned with free testosterone that total).

In his experience size or past AAS experience do not correlate well enough to make any meaningful predictions on dosage required. It's one of those things you have to find out through trial and error on an individual basis.

I'm not sure where you got these numbers but I have seen different #'s. I am on HRT and no many bro's on. If I am healthy and clean I have 800+ numbers with only 100mg/wk while weighing 200-220lbs. (8-11%bf throught the year) This is obviously different for everyone but I have never seen a guy on 1cc or 200mg that was not off the charts.

I'm on HRT. 220 lbs, 5'11", @11%. Initially my T was 240 ng/dl. Doc put me on 200 mg. PW Test-e for 6 wks. After 6 wks my T was @850 ng/dl.

He cut me back to 200 mg. test-e every two weeks. After only two weeks of this, i started feeling like crap again. Told the nurse. She said I would adjust to the feeling of less T in my body, but it was probably just my imagination.

Two more weeks go by at 200 test-e every two weeks. I still felt like crap at the end of two weeks so the the nurse took blood to prove to me it was all in my head, lol. Results came back, Test was 270 ng/dl. She's like "WTF!"

Anyway, my point is, i could definitely feel the difference between @800 and 270 very easily and relatively quickly.

that is a great example... by all accounts 200mg p/w should really put you way high of average... Just shows how each person can be so different.

and yes, the difference between 240 and 800 is SUBSTANTIAL!

For me, I was taking 100 mg/week. At 156 hours into the week, I was tested and my total T was 550.

I weigh 190 lb and have maybe 21% body fat.
