how would you say this?

won't he just be able to get your new password like it's nothing? work computers are company property, along with anything on them, so you don't really have any sort of legitimate gripe. sucks :whatever:

Thats unacceptable. That shit would never fly at my work.

I think he totally lied to you too. There's no reason he would need to be on your computer at that time. I think he probably got some sensitive information off your computer. Check and see if you can see what exactly he looked at.

Bring it up to the head of IT ASAP

there's nothing on my computer at all, other than my email. he's also at work all night sometimes, with nothing to show for it. I close my office door, but don't shut off my computer. today i'm going to put a password on it.

tell him it's IT policy and that you wish to be in full compliance. also, if he's brown-skinned, he should realize he's not to be trusted.

as a backup, you could inform him that you have pulled over 315 with chalk only, and that his shady ass needs to recognize.

i can't tell him it's IT policy... he is IT (assistant).
He was asked to set up my account, so of course he knows my PW.

he's eye-talian, so not brown skinned, but not trustworthy either (i kid!)

How can he login to your computer at home? Turn it off! Also yeah change your pw.

You got some software runnig that allows remote connections etc. with a password? Make it 1 way only. When you're not being paid, it's your HOME computer. Just tell him you don't want people logging into your computer w/o asking you. Most IT depts I know call the person asking if it's okay now to login if they have to. Usually it's corporate policy.

no no... he logged into my WORK pc from His home. i leave it on so i can work from home.
I don't think i have anything on there, but i don't need him looking at my email or history.

Yeah, that really shady, girl......

Okay.....I work in the IT dept myself and I would be fired in two seconds for doing that if I did not have your permission to be on your system. The comment about the system being "Company Property" actually validates my point because then I would be using your computer against company policy because I did not have your permission to be on it. Regardless of your position in any company most companies dictate a level of privacy for the users and only use systems with the users full knowledge. HR and IT management are very attentive to this rule because users can file a grievances that can get very messy.....and have on occasion.

cool. thanks.
I also put a password on my screensaver. I'm not sure if that will do anything, other than tell me if he restarts my computer when he's here late at night.

You lock the system when you leave for the night right? If you have changed the password you should be good for inside and outside access protection. I know we don't have access to user password in the IT Dept....so unless the user gives it out.......no one knows what it is.
