How to make flax oil taste better? What to mix it with?

I know I need to use flax oil for my CDK but It makes me want to puke trying to swig down a tablespoon of the nasty shit. Dont say mix it with a protein shake either cause it still taste like shit.

Try drinking the flax oil and then chasing it with something like OJ or a drink/food that you like the taste of.

I put my flax oil on tuna. Also hemp oil is a good source of EFA's and tastes like uncooked sunflower seeds--good on romain lettuce with a bit of vinegar or lemon juice.

Another point worth considering is that if your flax oil tastes really nasty it could be rancid. Is it fresh stuff that has been kept chilled and away from oxygen?

Its been in the refrig for a while but It has been kept cool, I noticed it was a bit cloudy though. It really isnt that bad going down its just that after effect of oil running down into my stomach is what makes me sick.

Is your oil pure flax-seed oil or is it an oil mix (like Udo's)?

If its pure flax-seed oil, I think that it should not be cloudy.

How long has it been since you opened it, and was it cloudy when you first got it?

If its pure flax oil cold pressed, it shouldn't be cloudy.

I put mine on broccoli...it tastes good with some "fake salt"...(potassium chloride)-but if your extremly low carb and can't eat broccoli, they make cinnamon flavered flax, but i've never tried it.

i drink the stuff , mix it with olive oil
2/3flax 1/3olive it will taste much better , and some more oils on keto are good

In Iceland there's one technique taught for young children to drink "lýsi" which is basicly distilled fish fat.

Just simply close your nose while you drink the oil, you have to cut of all oxygen going through your nose, this will dampen your senses to the taste of the oil.

Real men however, just drink it straight from the bottle and smile afterwards :D

I just drink it from the bottle (with a spoon), but then the supplier that I get it from here in the UK does state that they try to make it taste as pleasant as possible.

They even do chili and garlic versions for people who want to put it on salads. I just use the normal stuff though.

Quality flax should be in an opaque or dark glass bottle- and have a darker than yellow color- pale yellow is not good. Sounds as if it is rancid already. You may happier if you invest in new flax.
Good on vegies, salad, tuna, chicken, fish, protein shakes, oatmeal...

Thanks Peep's,

I think I will invest in some new stuff. It's been in the refrigerator since the middle of May. It doesnt taste rotten or anything. Maybe I could shake it up and see if it goes away.

If its cold pressed flax oil, looks cloudy and tastes bad - throw it away, and some fresh stuff.

Won't some oils cloud if they're kept very cold? Might not be spoiled...

I had some fresh Flax oil that tasted awful - forget the maker. It had sediment in it and ligands whatever the hell those are. Sounded good at the time.

I've found that floating flax oil on some diet 7-up or Coke in a small cup and then shooting it and chasing it with the soda works pretty well.

Well I keep mine in a very cold fridge, and it is still a clear golden liquid - no sediment, abosulutely no cloudiness.

Pure cold pressed flax oil shouldn't be cloudy.

Guys, I went home yesterday and shook the flax oil and that took care of that cloudy stuff that was in it. It does'nt taste rancid.

That's good.

Have you tried any of the suggestions on how to take it without feeling sick?

Maybe when you come to getting some more you can try a different supplier - some flax oils are much more pleasant to drink than others.

I've mixed it with tuna or salmon, but I usually get a serving with a MRP.

I've also found that it usually tastes pretty bad in vanilla - where as in chocolate I can't even tell its there.

oh, did it have added ligans in it? In that case you should shake it up, they settle and can give cloudy appereance.

clear flax tastes stronger and more bitter than High lignan flax. Total EFA tastes better than flax.

Best thing for me was:

Flaxseed oil with Canola oil....Canola oil killed the taste of Flaxseed oil.

Hope it works for you.
