How To Gain 10 Pounds Of Muscle In 10 Weeks

I got the extremely lame vitamin shoppe supplement shill magazine in the mail today and it had this stupid headline for an article. Now I didn't bother actually reading the details because I am sure they are going to f up whatever good feelings the skimming the article actually produced in my mind... but I will list the headings, as I believe most of you bros will actually be pleasantly shocked:

1. UP YOUR CALORIES (EAT 1,000 MORE A DAY)
2. EAT MORE PROTEIN (INCREASE BY 50g A DAY)
3. EAT MORE CARBS (INCREASE BY 150g OR MORE PER DAY)
4. EAT MORE FAT (INCEASE BY 20-30g A DAY)
5. EAT MORE MEALS
6. TAKE IN LIQUID CALORIES (ITS EASIER THAN THOSE YOU HAVE TO CHEW)
7. WORK OUT LESS OFTEN AND FOR LESS TIME (WORKING OUT BURNS CALS)
8. EMPHASIZE COMPOUND WEIGHT TRAINING MOVES
9. CUT BACK ON CARDIO
10. EAT ON YOUR OFF DAYS (EMPHASIZE EATING ON REST DAYS)
11. EAT BEFORE BEDTIME (SO YOU DON'T BURN MUSCLE WHILE YOU SLEEP)

Now the more you read the more crappy it gets..for example the split is kinda lame, the blanket statements of increase this by that much without knowing how much the person currently takes in is dangerous IMO, and there's a ton of take this supplement here take this one there kinda crap... BUT.. those eleven tips, kept short and sweet.. are actually logical and its nice to see a mainstream supplement retailer mag actually give some decent advice.

1-7, 9, 10, and 11 are all a different way of saying the same thing. To recap the article: do compound movements, and eat more.

I don't really like the premise that you have to trick yourself into gaining weight by eliminating cardio or trying to burn as few calories as possible during workouts. All of them except 8 could be replaced by "stop making excuses that you're a 'hardgainer,' grow a pair, and add food until you're gaining weight."

UGH... who is going to remember all those steps? forget it. too much work. I'm just going to stick to eating a lot and lifting heavy things if you don't mind.

Coulda said all that in two sentences.

Eat twice as much as usual. Lift heavy, with deads, squats, and bench being your staple lifts.

Sounds an awful lot like the advise given here, except, they didn't mention milk specifically :)
