how to fix scratched ring on Xbox COD game?

IrightI

New member
My son kicked his Xbox over and the COD game shows "read error" or whatever now. It has a perfect ring on the game. I see on youtube that people fix them w/ toothpaste or rubbing compound, what really works if anything?

gee, that's really helpful. I'll just ask you next time and not bother posting.... are you SURE your not a freking Kappa Alpha? and just though in the Pi to look good?

that's a good way to kill your xbox. it works, but it's mearly a bandaid since it purposely overheats the xbox.

as for the actualy question.. the games probably fucked. you might be able to fix it temporarily but it's going to randomly stop working. there's a gouge in the disc, and if you fill it you can make it work, but it will always be there. in the future tell him to not keep his 360 verticle anymore.

hey tex.

usually when this happens your disc is permafucked; believe me i've done it to a few in fits of rage, usually it's FIFA.

supposedly, every once in a blue moon, getting the disc resurfaced at a video/dvd/game store for 2 dollars in those machines they have works, but this is very rare. I've only heard anecdotal evidence of this being successful; never worked for me

If the game is made by EA sports, you can mail the disc back to the manufacturer along with a check 20 dollars and they will send you a new one. This is what I have done, and one time they didnt even cash my check. I imagine there is a similar offer from other game manufacturers, so you should check the booklet that came with your game and see if it mentions anything on the last page about what to do with a damaged disc.

That ain't what he's asking fool.

You got your rings mixed up. As usual.

Anyhoooooo.... I don't know. But why is he playing COD? L4D is the best. I can whup ass in that game.

idk what L4D is. COD was THE game to have last year, especially of ra 12 year old. :-)

This L4D, it isn't some game that takes place in SF at a bath house and the object is to pop as many bare butts with a rat-tail towel is it. I can see where you'ld be good at that. just sayin

btw, my pools in, when you coming to TX? That way I won't feel so bad when I show up on your doorstep in FL. :-)

yep, he was sitting in a chair that he doesn't usually sit in, he had several friends over. He did something good and stood up and knocked it over. The COD game played the rest of the day, but when he tried to restart it the next, it showed the error code.

so, tell him to keep the 360 horizontal....yes

thanks man, I don't know who makes COD, they may do the same. Hell, what does one cost now, it surely has reduced in price I'm sure. Now the COD Black Opps is due, if it's out already I may just get him that.

did you buy that special cleaning CD that you put into the machine? use that first (might have knocked dust around when it fell) try taking the disk itself to a record/music store. almost all of them have professional buffing machines for scratched cd's. they charge a couple bucks.

i've tried using toothpaste and plastic scratch compound with a porter cable (only tried on music cds. just to see if it would work) and it didn't do shit. i thought they make cd sleeves you can put over any cd now so it won't scratch. if not i call dibs on inventing it (c)(r)

pretty sure COD MW2 is still selling for $45 used at gamestop. or at least it was last time i went in. black ops hasnt come out yet, but even when it does i don't see it dropping MW2 that much in price.
