how to combat sleeping @ work...help

I've been training in the mornings @ 5:30am (get up at 5) for an hour and then come home and get ready for work. It feels awesome and everything is good, but the one problem I am having is overcoming this OVERWHELMING feeling of sleepiness that comes over me from 9am - 11:30 am. Like I can basically close my eyes and goto sleep if I wanted to.

I goto bed @ around 9:30pm but I am trying to get my body use to about 6.5 - 7 hours of sleep so was trying the 10pm sleep but its even harder. I know some might say i need 8 hours, but to me thats too much, with work and all.

Is there anyway I can get over this annoying feeling of tiredness, or is it just a matter of conditioning my body, and if it is, how long does THAT take???? Any supplements that might help??

This is really effecting my work and I need to stop it somehow...I dont want to be using coffee, as I feel like I am getting my rest and its only for that temp moment.

THANKS. :mix:

I'd just let your body adjust...it will get used to it over time. Everyone's different, so it you'll just have to wait it out.

Sleep more at night.

8 hours may "seem" like too much, but if left to sleep unbothered, how long would you stay in bed?

Thanks for the posts guys, I normally feel well rested upon waking at 5, and am ready to start the day. I suppose I could sleep for a bit longer but who couldnt? My time is pretty scarce as is everyones, and I get home from work around 6pm and then to go to bed by 9pm is somewhat hard with other life things. But i guess I could try to get more hours in on some days....just have to schedule a little better.

I had tried the caffine pills for a week and it didnt work for me....as for coffee, I might have to try a cup or something, until, I am hoping, my body gets used to it and stuff.
Any specific type that works well, in terms of diet and actually working?

Ephedrine HCl

but you'd rather sleep more if you're sleeping during your workouts

What does it mean when you sleep for 10-12 hours on average when you don't set an alarm or anything? Basically letting your body wake on its own.

Tom, that's your body wanting to repay the sleep debt, the accumulated effect of many nights of sleep deprivation.

What happens is, if allowed to stay in bed as long as possible, people will sleep 10+ hours for a few days and then normalize back to 8-ish.
