How soon can you return to training, after a Hernia?

I had surgery for a hernia in high school. It put me flat on my ass for two weeks, and I couldn't get around with assistance for a solid month afterwards. Do NOT go back to lifting until you're absolutely back to 100%. Wait at least two months, with VERY LIGHT lifting after the first month. The moment you feel discomfort, stop lifting. You'll just get another hernia in the same place, and have to go through the whole ordeal again.

Curious as to how big yours is. Ive had one for 17 years and it really hasnt grown any bigger. Its rather small, and the doctors at the time said its best left alone since its not causing any problems. How big is yours?

about the size of a large marble, It does'nt hurt at all, but I have insurance so I figure I might as well get it fixed. Maybe get some good pain meds too.

I hope it goes well. Let me know if they use a patch to seal it up, I would like to know. As I said earlier, ive read where most procedures today they use them and when they do not use them it has a good chance of tearing again. Recovery is supposed to be a lot better with the patch too. I plan on just continuing as I have, living with the small one I have.
