how often do you suffer training injuries..

Curious to how often other suffer injuries while training.

During the year 90% of my training is heavy and more often then not I have some sort of tendon or connective tissue problems to deal with.

I have a great Dr. that keeps me from missing anytime luckily. Having a cracked disc the last 5 years I have learned to just get used to a little pain daily.

very few....last year i had some strained bicep tendons from heavy deads, every now and then I will have a slight muscle pull in my back.....but that's generally it.

for the bicep tendons, i just took a few weeks off of doing any bicep work at all....didn't have too much of a negative impact on my growth.

Been working out, on and off, for 22 years.

I've had 2 minor injuries due to working out.

Strained my back once doing rack-pulls with 420 (go figure, it's supposed to be safer)

I was doing shoulder press and strained my neck once. Pain lasted for a good 6 weeks.

Both injuries were due to having less than 100% concentration.

NOW, if were talking about injuries that were not caused by working out, then I've had 10-15 of those.

Never had anything serious (knocking on wood). I did tweak my back deadlifiting once that put me out of action a few days. Minor joint issues yes. Just something we get used to.

I hestitate to post on this thread, because sure as the world when I go to the gym in 45 minutes I'm gonna break myself. I've never had an injury that kept me from training though. Lucky too because I haven't always been the stickler for perfect form that I am today. Bigdawg, you're my bor and all, but if I hurt myself after posting this, I'm blaming you.

never had one since I started, then in the last six months I have had a back, a shoulder and a chest injury, luckily all were fairly minor and a few weeks off/light lifting has cured them

but being injured and not being able to lift is a horrible feeling

I use way better form today then I did in my 20's but it's more of a stress thing put on my tendons from the heavy weights.

This could all be payback for the years when I did give a shit about form and only the amount of weight.

Ive had very minor injuries as a result of lifting. Nothing that has really put a damper on my performance for more than a few days. Although that nerve i tweaked in my lower back on the leg press caused me aggravation and pain for 8 months. I still trained tho.

lately about once a year. Bum shoulder last year and tendonitis this year. Luckily no tears or anything real serious. :Knocks on wood:

since a back injury about 20 yrs ago I really haven't had anything to speak of; kinda hard to hurt yourself with the plastic dumbbells.

Form is the key maing. Fortunately by the time I realized that, I hadn't done any damage. Us old folks can't really afford to take chances with bad form.

Form isn't a problem, hasn't been for last 5 years since I cracked my disc. Its more my tendons and connective tissue falling behind the rest of my growth and I like to lift heavy.

my shoulder already feels like half a million bucks after 8 days of having the spurs taken out and everything shaved to perfectness, next week will even feel better

i cant wait to have the second one done, then I'll be on top of the world

Cracked disk? Damn bor, that's serious. Are you totally healed from that or is that one of those things that will never be the same? How did that happen?

One of the ladies that I train just had that done (last Thursday). She's already back working out. I didn't expect to see her for weeks.

I've tweaked my back a few times, and a nasty pull in my chest hindered shit recently for about 4 weeks. Nothing that kept me out of the gym though.

nah causes problems every now and then and I don't think it will ever be 100%. As long as it doesn't rupture it will be ok, just some pain that I can live with at times. Was caused by 17 years of wear and tear playing hockey and the types of jobs I did while in university.

Well, it hasn't kept you from getting all swoled up. Glad you didn't let it hold ya down.

i think thread was directed towards people that actually lift, not for "just sittin at the drinking fountain with invisible lat syndrom in a wife beater, wind pants, and a white bandana talkin to his friends about how jakked he will be when he starts that new creatine cycle" people like you

Nope, ain't ever gonna stop, even went back to squatting and am gonna start deads again.

Also started playing hockey again last year.

I am extremely prone to injury, because of a chronic condition but I never do because I am very careful. I accepted a long time ago that I am never going to be as big and strong as I once was.

There comes a time when you have to realize that your body is just wearing out. Ask yourself, "Hmmmmm do I want to end up looking like total garbage in say 10 years because I was acting the fool NOW.... Or do I want to ease up, accept reality and go to my grave (at the age of like 115) looking like a smaller yet no less amazing version of what I once was?"

Though I am a girl, in the regard of being big and strong (for a girl) I know how hard it is to give that up.

But check that silly thread about my "celebrity". Apparently, we are all way harder on ourselves than everyone else is. You aren't going to earn a living stepping out onto stage in a posing suit. So your choices are pretty clear.

(Sorry, but you are just getting phucking old!) LOL

nope I refuse to get old!! ;)

I've been injured 3 times.

The first was when I was doing pullovers with 110lbs. I did a large pelvic push down as the weight went back. I could feel this pop between my ribs, the pain came, the weight dropped and breathing was a bitch for 9 weeks. Let alone sneezing or coughing.

The second was when a guy was doing skull crushers with more weight than he should have. He had no spotter. So I reached over as he was lifting to spot him and he just let go of the weight. It was only 50lbs, but I had my arm extended to the left since I was at the other bench. Bad spotting technique on my part, but he still shouldn't have just let go of the weight.

The last one was more of a spotting injury. This woman asked me to spot for her while doing flys. I said ok and she pulled off her sweatshirt and laid down on the bench. 32 or 34 F. Low cut top! Flys. My eyeballs were strained for weeks.
