How often do you dry clean your suits?

I get them dry cleaned after one or two wearings, less frequent in the winter.

Am I ruining the fabric by dry cleaning them often?

Any tips?

I had to go to one of my best friend's mother's ( can you have double possesive?)funeral the other day. I reached in the pocket and found a pamplet from a work colleagues funeral from 3 yrs ago.

I thought - dang, I got to send this suit to cleaner more often.

They say the dry cleaning is not hard on fabric. I don't send them unless I have been traveling and they are wrinkeled or they smell (but I tend to smell like roses anyway).

I'm living with my father till September, then he flies back to Vegas...
However I do his dry cleaning runs...
He has a rule... 2 wearings at the most.
3 I suggested, he looked at me like I told him I was in love with the Yard care dude.

About every 3 or 4 times I wear them. Unless I wear one out (say, to a wedding/reception) and get trashed. Then I usually have it cleaned again :)

I wear brooks Brothers and Jos A bank clothes which cost more but can be washed and dried

You can have them pressed, not necessarily cleaned unless they smell bad.

The thing is that, now that the weather is getting warmer I wear short sleeves underneath and sometimes I get some deodorant on it. Not that it smells bad or anything you can't even tell but, "I" know it. I know, I'm sick in the head lol

Well if no one can see it... If you take a cold moist washcloth to the deoderant that should remove any white chunks. LOL

Let me know how it works. :) Another thing to consider is if you are in an environment (ie cigar bar) where your fine clothing doesn't get sweaty stinky, just smelly from the air then hang the garment and hit it with Febreeze, it works. Gets the smell out and you can get another wearing out of it.

100% wool suits, I dry clean once a year at most. But I also can avoid sweating in suits, generally.

The chemicals and heat of dry cleaning is not only horrible for the fabric, it can also cause bubbling if you have a fused interlining (and if your suits are less than ~$1200 or so, they are probably fused).

Cotton or poly-cotton suits (seersuckers and poplins) are made to wear in the summer, and hence be laundered. They are also considerably cheaper and easier to replace.

Steamer is where it's at. Whirlpool Fabric Freshener if you want to go crazy.
