absolutely 0

actually if i had to deduct the time i don't work 40 hours from 0, i would be at -38. give or take 2 hrs

I am on salary so I don't get paid overtime, but I put in anywhere from 50-150hrs of overtime per month.

Through the end of april I had 300hrs of overtime and we base our week on 50hrs not 40.

Cheers,
Scotsman

I'm on salary bitch, That being said, if I got paid OT, I put in roughly 35-40 hrs per week. I get compensated with commissions and year end bonuses :D

Before changing positions at work I never worked OT. Now I work a lot more than I used to...but I don't think it's 10 hours a week.

I am not willing to sacrifice my happiness for any amount of money. Work isn't my #1 priority. My husband works at least 10-20+ hours OT a week though. :bawling:

to god damn much, but I only get straight pay for it because I work for a crappy company, but ya do what ya gotta do

I am actually salary, but have to work 50 hrs a week from Mar-Aug then it's back to 40 for the rest.

I no longer work, but my high time in OT was 500 hours in 1 year....

Overtime infers:

1) You're working harder not smarter. You're not efficient or smart about things.
2) You're horrible at planning. Or your managers are horrible at planning.

It cuts into other things you have planned in life -- and is a bad omen for things to come. Avoid that shit if at all possible.

Nothing you can't do in 55 hours you shouldn't be able to do in 40.

Most people i see working 80 hours -- are usually monkeys at the lower rung of the totem pole.

nothing wrong with long hours razor.. sometimes it has to be done

If that is the case .. then getting your job done faster and efficiently should also entail shorter work hours in the week.

A concept, of course, that isn't found in corporate america. Usually it instills jealousy.

More often than not -- long hours is usually the result of inadequancy and incompetence.

I've been trained from the beginning to get shit done fast. It's why i get the big bucks. :)

fast typing speed doesn't hurt either. :)

The compensation of the company I worked for is so screwed up. Basically designed to fuck over the employees. Thank god it's only a summer job. Almost quit on the job site a few times already but it seems to be getting better.

Depends on the month

From 0 to 40

I used to work 10 hours a day, every day Mon-Fri.

50 hours /week normally, then I'd work an extra 2,3, 4 hours extra sometimes. I would never get paid "overtime" pay, just my regular hourly pay.

Working 70+ hours in 5 days can get to you when doing construction type work. No wonder I'm so lazy and burned out now.

and comfortable... save your money.

I feel your pain orb, last night the idiot who was suppose to take over on site for me didnt show so I ended up working 15.5 hrs as oppose to 7 at straight pay,and then tonight I had to stay 3 hrs later then planned because that ass didnt show again, and you guessed it,strait pay

If you truly enjoy your work, and what you do ... you never count those hours as "overtime".

When i hear people complain about hours -- i hear words coming from people who truly don't enjoy what they do at work. The 5pm escape artists.

Time to get out and create a new view of the world around you.

I love my job,I hate the pay

Unfortunately you're in a job where you get paid for your physical tasks which are tied to a frame of time (# of hours). As opposed to a job where you get paid for performing tasks which have no reference to time. Only completion.

For hourly jobs -- happiness is vital, otherwise you'll feel like you're in a prison and can't leave. Unfortunately, due to it being a physical task, and thereby difficult to "be unique from the bunch" -- the pay is usually dismal, like in your case. :(
