For one example of how modern religion can’t be trusted:
Every modern Christian is taught that Jesus was born from the virgin Mary, meaning she never had sex, and most people take that as proof that he was “supernatural” in some way. However, original Hebrew writings refer to her as the virgo Mary, which in Hebrew basically means an unwed mother. Somewhere over the centuries “virgo Mary” got translated into “virgin Mary”, hence the supernatural aspect to what was originally a rather normal birth. This may have been done on purpose by the Romans to make him a more powerful and more fearful figure, it is well known they embellished certain parts of the scriptures. After all, what good is religion without fear?
The truth is that Jesus was a bastard child (born out of wedlock).
The modern Bible is full of passages like this that have lost their true meaning over the centuries. Not to mention the fact that anyone who studies the true origins of the Bible will find themselves questioning the validity of the Christian religion as a whole. Unfortunately, most people just accept it as Word and Law rather than research it for themselves.

The idea of virgin birth came fom a Persian religion called Mithraism. Mithra was a deity who was born of a virgin. Mithraism was very popular with the roman army, and in order to make the official transition to Christianity easier, Constantine adopted parts of pagan religions.
BTW, this is why we have Christmas in December; it replaced the Roman Saturnalia. Jesus was born in the Spring.
If you want to "research it yourself" then you should better understand Judaism, as well as pagan religions of the time.

OF course Matt doesn't believe Christ was the Son of God heck his fellow Jews killed him. I have nothing against Jews by the way. I do believe they are God's chosen people but in the Bible God said he blinded them from seeing the truth until the end. So matt is just blinded by God.
