there is inequality in pay. fresh college graduates who are male usually get higher starting salaries for the same jobs. On the job, men usually get more frequent raises and bonuses. I think women on average fail to have higher standards and fight to negotiate for that higher pay but instead settle for the proposed salary because its not a bad salary. Same for raises and bonuses, we wait around and think the employer is gonna notice the phenomenal work and reward you. Sure its noticed but why willingly reward more the bare minimum, maybe they even think you're content with current situation cause you haven't said otherwise. weather you believe it or not of yourself, you expect a woman to act in a more docile manner than a man doing the same jobs. it is okay for a man to be more aggressive in his financial pursuits, but if a woman acts the same, she gets hate from both men and women, I've seen it happen. All it means is you have to approach the situation in different way.
This is true when I came on to this company I was out of work and didn't feel like I was in a good postion to negotiate. I was in fight or flight mod and my ass was not moving back with my parents hellz to the no.
When I got my promotion last August again I should have negotiated better but I didn't cause I just wanted to get off the shity vendor line I was on, bad call on my part. I had to do both jobs until about October when they found my replacement for the shity line.
My review this year I knocked that shit out the park and end up getting a good amount above company standard for my bump this year. It's about half of what I got for my promotion last August.
I am working on killing it again this year so if I can keep it up another 10ish year I might be at a salary I find acceptable. LOL
I do over all really like where I work they offer somethings that are better than money for the most part it's a good work life balance which is a trade off for more $$$$
